nightcraw1er.488: Yes, that's the problem really. Have played Rome, Medievel, Shogun, and they are all great games. After that they went all steam required so never played the second of each, although from all accounts I am lucky.

Grargar: The retail version of Medieval 2 doesn't require Steam.
Can redeem the key there though (actually, I think you can now do that with all TW games prior to empire).
Never been into Warhammer, but on the subject of crossovers, I would love to see a Dynasty Warriors: Total War game. The two seem like they would blend so well together.
Shame it's regionally restricted. Really don't get SEGA and Total War. They gave us a glimmer of hope by actually selling Rome 2 in Japan. But then continued the same old of regionally restricting all other Total War games. =(

So when I eventually get it, it'll have to be from a 3rd party source.
They didn't call it Total Warhammer? Missed opportunity tbh

markrichardb: Having learned my lesson last time I'm planning to avoid preorders and wait for a general reaction to the final product. Chaos, High Elves, hell they can hold back Skaven for preoder customers and I still wouldn't put my money down early.

Potzato: That.
Rome2 burned me hard. Although I am not even excited with this one, mildly curious at best (even if I am a big warhammer fan).
same here ^^ . Really cautious this time and will wait a few months after release b4 even considering buying it. Still hoping for a good game though and hoping it's gonna be a positive suprise this time.

I always wondered why the Tomb Kings and Vampire Counts aren't allies in WH, considering that they're pretty much the same race
I lost faith in the Total War series when it went all screwy with the AI. I lost respect for the Total War series when it went to Steam. I lost all hope in the Total War series when it abandoned actual human time periods and replaced pikemen and cavaliers with orcs and goblin fire tossers.
With naming an exact release date Sega creates for Creative Assembly the danger Warhammer: Total War will be as bugged a release as Rome 2 Total War was. At least, that's what I assume: Creative Assembly hasn't got a say in this, Sega creates a deadline which CA willl have to adhere to, whether the game is finished and bug-free or not.. Sega should take Beamdog as an example of how to do things: don't name a date but announce that 'It will be done when it is done". The stance of Beamdog on the release of Baldur's Gate expansion Siege of Dragonspear is "The game itself will tell when it's ready", i.e. it will be released when it's finished, not when a certain date like the 26th of April is reached.
Do the Warhammer games have a story/campaign that it would matter which order you played them in? Cause I still need to go through them. :p

Well you can always play as the Empire of Man of you want Calvary and Pikemen.

I would like you to ask me just how DEEP is the lore of Warhammer Fantasy.

Like does it have protaginistic characters like Warcraft?

I am already familier that the Empire of Man is strongly based on the actual Holy Roman Empire right down to aesthetics of their weapons and armor and machines.

The nation thats supposed to be the typical "British" like nation in Warhammer is Bretonnia. Are they under good relations with the Empire?

And so far humans here seems to be more powerful than High Elves which fantasy always portrays such Elves as higher than Humanity.

No modding. If that wasn't enough to ring fucking alarm bells, I don't know what is. Remember this is the same company that regularly breaks more stuff than they fix in their patches. And their patching cycle is unpredictable. Their Rome 2 works was barely better and many times, worse than modders'. I recall even fucked up names and spellings. Also, in R2, they have 2 units with the same name but different characteristics, fucked up siege battles so much that a routing unit of pussies that broke and ran, and somehow the gates opened for them will come back to normal morale as you fight at the gates and they reach the city square.
AND have a unit called ''Germanic levy'' that somehow contains women (in a professional army unit from that place and time) and men,and is the basic meatshiled infantry of cultures living on the France, Germany and UK and Ireland parts of the map!!!

Post a link to the source that they announced the game will not have any modding please?

And besides did they offer Mod Tools for Medieval 2 Total War?

Ofc they did with M2TW. After they started with the TWIII engine (known popularly as Warscape), modding has been more and more restricted. Shogun 2 was fair, Rome 2 onward crippled it severely by disabling creation and editing of new maps. So mods like the one where they put in Korera as well for you to conquer in S2 wasn't possible.

M2 TW Kingdoms is the most modded TW after R1. It even has a 40K mod.

Well there goes any chance of a Warcraft mod :P Unless they change their minds and add mod support later.

Now I hope CA and Blizz might come to an agreeement and make a Warcraft Total War.
