Sielgaudys: You know, one thing is for them to make a bad remake. Whole another thing is making that remake also patch and affect your original game that you bought and you own and then mess around with various things, from game balance to custom campaigns. This is why GoG and DRM free versions are necessary.
I totally agree, but at least on my Mac, I have two files: "Warcraft III", and "Warcraft III launcher". The launcher file does try to force an update and not let you play if you cancel. The Warcraft III file however just runs the game directly and it works normally without trying to update. As long as you stay off Battle.net, that is, otherwise it tries the update thing. But at least single player works and probably LAN, though I didn't test that. So it's not quite as bad as I thought. Still not really acceptable overall.
Edit: the "last modified" date is November 27, 2018, so it has the widescreen support. Saves me from having to find my CDs, especially since I'm pretty sure that version wouldn't work on the current macOS anyway.
