So, thinking of getting warbanners on the humble sale, as it's not coming here.

Anyone played it, have any opinion on it? Looks a bit like a more advanced battle for wesnoth which is great, and with the discount is under £10! Is it worth that? Was also thinking of onkikron as well.

I've played in Warbanners, in my opinion it's very enjoyable, yet quite challenging title. It's mostly about tactic fights, which are quite interesting due to complex, yet relatively intuitive fighting system - e.g. for chance of hitting are influencing such factors as in which direction is faced defending unit, is it day or night (and if there is light nearby during night) etc. I like also big variety of units, allowing for adjusting your team for tactics of your preference.

There is only campaign mode thought (fortunately there is arena where you can make some "basic skirmishes", but you still can't play as anyone else than "human" (orks are available in short DLC Deathspeaker, available only on Steam).

Important disclaimer - quite a lot of negative reviews on steam are cause because players didn't understood influence of light/darkness or direction of unit on hitting chance. And other mechanics. So I would highly recommend to take a look on tutorial/in-game instruction to be aware of it.

Previos game of this developer, Drums of War, has demo version, so maybe it's a good opportunity to check it, since both those games are sharing some features (such as fighting system).

Thanks for that, I was t aware the dlc was steam only, that alone puts me off the humble version as it's already well known the humble versions get abandoned. I also wasn't aware it was a sequel, and that the first is published by slitherine which have released other games here, so I don't see why these two are not here.
I think I might leave it for now then

To be fair, Slitherine has amassed a huge number of titles, and every day they add to that. So I'm not surprised that not all are here. However, Drums of War and Warbanners, seem to be titles I'd really like, so hopefully GOG feels the same way about them.

They were already rejected from my information:
https://www.gog.com/forum/general/another_good_game_rejected_by_gog_warbanners
Warbanners was indeed rejected, but since some users mentioned that it's doesn't mean that game will never appear on GOG, we can still vote on it and have hope that this decision will be re-considered:

With Drums of War situation is a bit more complicated - developer mentioned on Slitherine's forum, that currently rights to this game belongs to publisher (Slitherine) and that they don't agree to release it anywhere "outside".

But since game is available on Slitherine's website as "almost" DRM-free (you only need to put cd-key into installer - no online verification) and it's working fine. I've bought it there.

Thanks, I may take a look at that one when I get a sec. they have a fair few on there which might be of interest, have to look carefully though as some are steam only.

I've seen that thread, thank you for the link. I said that I was hoping that somebody at GOG likes it, because that would mean that there's still a chance. However, if there's nobody that enjoys turn-base tactics, then it's a lost cause, since they already rejected it.
To be honest, I'm wondering what it offers over Wesnoth.

A price tag

Symphony8: A price tag
I had a strange feeling it'd be something like that.

It has several additional things, read the game page. Is it worth £9, not sure. And as the dlc is steam only that says no to me. Maybe I will try the demo of drums of war and see if that's worth £8.

Nah.

Tell me about the game.
