So, what's all this about?
I would like to organize a giveaway for the Christmas and New Year season, however since I will be away during that time, I need someone to host it for me. I will supply the prizes myself, all I need is a host(ess).

What traits are you looking for in the successful candidate?
The potential host should be a forum member in *excellent* standing. I won't be asking for any particular join date or rep requirement, but I'd prefer someone who has been around. GA hosting experience is not necessary.

And what do you offer in return?
Unfortunately I will not be compensating you for this job. However, since most GA first posts quickly turn green, you'll probably end up receiving a rep boost, if that's something you're interested in.

I want to apply, but I'd like to know how much time will I need to spend on this.
Not that much. You'll start the giveaway some time before Christmas. After that all you'll need to do is make sure it's bumped from time to time and see that everyone behaves nicely. You will need to do one important job though after the giveaway ends. I'll need you to compile a numbered list of all the entrants so I can quickly run random.org on them.

Cool, I'm interested. So how do I apply?
Reply here and say that you're in. Don't PM me. Since attention to details is something I'm looking for in a potential host, if you ignore this and PM me just to say you're in, you're likely decreasing your chances. If you have any questions, ask here too. You may however PM me if for any reason you'd like to keep your query private. Be aware however, that I don't log in often, so it might be some time before you receive a reply.

I'd like to apply, but your giveaway sounds so cool, I'd rather join it.
Hosting this giveaway will NOT prevent you from joining it. I'll be drawing the winners myself, so there is no question of cheating. So even if you host it, go ahead and join. The more the merrier.

I'd like to apply, but I'm a cat.
Cats (and people with cat avatars) are *gulp* welcome to apply too.

Wait a sec... Mar 2015 join date? And I don't remember seeing you around here. You must be a scammer!
I'm not a scammer. Though this account is indeed an alt that I created just to host GAs, I'm actually an old member. I did create one giveaway already:

Anything else?
The winners will be chosen later, though I can't give a specific deadline. Semi-randomly, with random.org when necessary.
Please respect my privacy. I'd ask you that should you somehow manage to find out my identity to please keep it to yourself.

I'll have the time to do it and will be about as per - BUT (and this but is bigger than Ricky Lake's!) - what is the entry stance on open code droppers (sorry, its not something I'm gonna turn around on)?

Did you hear that Melissa Etheridge died.

She drowned.

They found her face down in Ricky Lake.

I'm your huckleberry.

I mean, I'm in! I would be happy to be your giveaway host.
Giveaway host? *runs away* :P

On a serious note: Great idea :-)
I would apply only to find out who's behind this alt! :P
I think you scared all of the elephants away.

I am also gladly willing to help+host.

I am a writer, attention to detail is my thing. (ohmy, after The Community GA mis-read of the banished entry just now, maybe I shouldn't be touting this as one of my strong suits? but really, it is!)
Reporting for duty sir (or ma'am)! :D

Yeah, it would be crazy to volunteer for something like that.

Worse, imagine volunteering to host one that were several times larger and open-ended! ;)

The giveaway will be open to members who were active in 2015. People whose presence is only limited to ninja threads and the like will be excluded. However simply having taken part in code dropping will not disqualify someone if they have been active otherwise.

You won't find out either way. All communication will be done through this account.
