For anyone interested in using their PS4 controller with their GOG games there's
Inputmapper.

I'm sure it has been mentioned before maybe in the last year or 5 but since the developer is getting closer to releasing a version 2.0, I thought I'd remind everybody and inform new people that this program is out there and it is an amazing solution for those who like the look and feel of a Dualshock 4 controller and wish to use it for their PC.

I use it every time I play games on my PC. Best part is that in addition to loading drivers for the Dualshock 4, letting you remap keys for mouse and keyboard games and emulating a Xbox 360 controller, it lets you play wirelessly as well via Bluetooth or Sony's adapter.

Also, it let's you change the light bar's colors and lets you pick a custom one in case you're into that.

Profiles/Key Bindings:

Here's the link to the forum where I posted my profiles Inputmapper Profiles

I have used it to play the following games without issue:

The Witcher
The Witcher 2
Brutal Legend
Braid
Saints Row 2
Psychonauts
Grand Theft Auto San Andreas
Metroid Confrontation
AM2R (Another Metroid 2 Remake)

Is it possible to sue all the features of the DS4 on the PC like motion control and the touch pad.

I found it irritating that PC devs chose the 360 controller instead of the Playstation pad in the past, which held the quality of games and controllers back.

That's because Microsoft happily enabled native support for the 360 controller in Windows, while Sony actively tried to combat attempts at getting the PS3 controller to work on anything other than the PS3, even going so far as to design it from the beginning to use a non-standard Bluetooth stack.

Blame Sony, not PC devs.

Motion control, I would say no but I have purposely ignored that feature. Too new agey for me. Touchpad, yes.

Edit: I've found this post where the motion control was currently in beta in the last version so it should at least be available in this version: https://inputmapper.com/forum/inputmapper-1-5-support/18-info-needed-on-sixaxis-mapping

Right now, the developer is working on 1.7 as the next stable release, so it might be very plausible that this feature is already implemented.

I'm not sure if the Wii remote also had a different connection but there were drivers early on for it.

There was the PS2 pad before both of them too.
So I assume that this is a solution for mapping keypresses, mouse actions, and DirectInput and XInput controller actions to other keypresses/mouse actions/controller actions along the same lines as Joy2Key and XPadder? The website does a poor job of explaining its functionality.

And none of them were official or had any official support, hence no game devs in their right minds would explicitly support them, otherwise any problem that turned up would be placed on their doorstep.

Again, blame Sony, not PC devs.

That's exactly what it is. There was a version of the website that had the description but it's beyond me why they took it out.

Official what? There were more controller makers than Sony so I'll blame lazy devs, microsoft etc.

Sure, go ahead. Why not blame the Pope while you're at it? It's as much his fault as the ones you mention.
I'm sure if the pope put his mind to it he would have come up with a better solution unlike the current selection of pads where the best ones are either a hobby driven DS4 pad or the steam controller which is tied to steam.
Saddest thing (now) is the best "driver" for a PS4 controller on Windows is Steam... where you get full access to the gyro and all that... I've tried InputMapper and it's got its share of issues nevermind usablity of the program leaves a lot to be desired

It's really nice when the games themselves build in support for it... like Hollow Knight, Divinity Original Sin 2, No Man's Sky... those all work with a PS4 controller (even show the right icons) without doing anything other than plugging the controller in (wired or with the wireless dongle)... other games like Yooka-Laylee support it without a driver as well, but that, for some reason, still shows you the Xbox controller icons, even though everything is 100% functional

I would be amazing if GOG would build in PS4 controller support right in Galaxy, like Steam does and like Uplay does... the clients themselves become the driver

I avoid clients like the plague and there are others here that do the same. Many here actually, at least on the forum. That's why I started this thread.

It's of course being updated mainly by one guy so by no means does it compete with valve or even galaxy but I found no very minor issues with using it and I mainly use Bluetooth with no dongles so that's a given but I've beaten Witcher 1 and 2 without many problems using it.

Built in game support is amazing but this on it's own is the most stable driver I've seen for it so far.
Nope. I have one of these instead.

All the better features of many controllers with fewer of their drawbacks.

That seems to be the case from all that I've read... I, myself, wouldn't have started using GOG if not for Galaxy

My problem with the software is it's just overall super janky, poorly designed... I know there's the exclusive feature of how it grabs the controller so nothing else can use it, but even with no game clients or games open, I get several rapid fire Windows notifications telling me it can't get exclusive control of my PS4 controller (wired or via the Bluetooth dongle) and from what I've read there's some other app you have to get that will force it to hide your controller? Too many hoops... I also paid to have the ads removed and a percentage fo the time when I launch it, it logs me out and I'm on as guest again with ads... and when I am logged in, even though I've donated, I still see messages about how much has been donated... the app needs not just a coder on it, but a UI designer as well to make it more usable... I get it, it's one guy and he's the only one really doing anything for it, but it leaves a lot to be desired
