Wacky Wheels HD just released today on Steam. Hopefully it finds its way to GOG.
For some strange reason that sounds really cool to me.

I'd snag it in a heartbeat.

While I enjoyed Wacky Wheels I never thought "OMG, this needs a remake!"

Would of been kinda low on my list of things that need a remake - but it might be interesting. Might have to check it out.

Wow, this flew right past my radar. Doesn't look bad at all - seems a pretty accurate HD reproduction of the original. Thanks for letting us know!
Thanks for pointing out this release. I talked about the game when it was still in development and I'm glad it's finished. However, it's past 7PM and no GOG release of it yet so I guess the GOG curation refused it. Thus, I'm gonna have to buy it on Steam :(
I think some links would be helpful here:

Loved to play the original with some friends in hotseat-mode in the old days. Because of nostalgia I bought the original version here on sale. I think still today it would be a nice multiplayer-game, but unfortunately nothing that keep you interested in single-player mode. My impression after watching the trailer: Graphics are fine, but nothing I would need thanks to the multiple filter options of dosbox. From my impression the new graphic style emphasizes how flat the game world is, but I guess while in action that will not be so apparent. The music sounds softer to me, I don't know if I like that.

It's hard to disagree with that. I actually had the same thought while this was still in the greenlight phase. Who knows... maybe if the game is successful enough, they'll be inspired to create a full-blown 3D sequel.
Yo! I'm bumping this thread as I just saw that the game has been released DRM-Free on itch.io:

I'd seen it there too and bookmarked it for later
How does this game actually stack up to Mario Kart 1?
Sorry, but ... I prefer the pixel art of the original. The HD version looks like generic clipart.
Why is it not on GOG yet? it is on steam, and even in itch.io (DRM-Free)

I rather GOG than Itch.io... so... please
Judging by your avatar, maybe this will appeal to you!

Edit: So I've seen reviews, and I recommend playing SuperTuxKart instead, which is Libre and Free.
