It seems as though my previous entry was deleted for some (suspicious) reason, so here a new one.

Was the original Doom 3 the one with Doomguy struggling to hold his flashlight, weapon and PDA at the same time while zombies stumbled out of closets randomly? If so, it has my vote. Very flawed game but enjoyable all the same.

I may have asked a blue to merge it, sorry.

But my thought was https://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/doom_3 can also be considered the original, since BFG Edition has its own entry.

Yes. I think people probably wouldn't have savaged the game the way they did if they had called it something other than Doom. Because it's definitely not a Doom game. It lacks basically everything that made the original games good.

If they had named it something else, I probably would have liked it a lot more because I wouldn't have been expecting a Doom game. It was a fairly good survival game, IIRC.

Two words: Monkey Island

Its almost been a year, still no sign of the original games in ScummVM. I'm just glad you didn't ask to merge my Full Throttle or Day of the Tentacle entries.

Anyway, it's no big deal we all make mistakes. :P

Since releasing the BFG edition would they sell the original? For some reason I doubt it. This isn't like Monkey island or DoTT where the original game comes with it (yes it did before some entitled elite complain). Last I saw they don't even sell the original on Steam anymore.

They brought it back shortly after the release of BFG edition.
People were complaining as the BFG was incompatible with preexisting mods.

Wow that really was a terrible game. Id have been awful since Romero left.

Voted long time ago. Definitely it needs to be the original version. The BFG version took a lot of scare and ambient away. They just turned it into another dumbed down game.

At this moment looking at the wishlists 4 out of 5 people wan't the original version. Yes they sell the original version on Steam too: http://store.steampowered.com/app/9050/

I'm not a fan of Doom 3 but I think the original had subtitles and the BFG edition doesn't and I really want subtitles.
But if Doom 3 comes here it will almost certainly be the BFG edition.

Nah, the original Doom 3 definitely did not have subtitles. I still prefer the original to BFG edition tho, BFG edition got somewhat rebalanced and a good deal of that game loses its impact when you can have weapon and a flashlight out at the same time

I doubt that anyone is working on making that happen. Meanwhile, are you aware of the Ultimate Talkies? They are the only reason that I bought the Special Editions for.
