It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

I've been using it for the past few years, but lately I've been having frequent sound stuttering problems. I've been googling for solutions and must have tried every suggestion I've found, but nothing helps. It used to be rare occurances, that restarting would fix, but now they happen almost always, and I have to restart a few times for the problem to go away. The same files play fine with Windows Media Player.

Anyway, are there any good, free alternatives? I'm looking for something lightweight (Windows Media Player seems to be a bloatware that likes connecting to the internet a lot), with subtitles support. Also, the interface shouldn't block the video when not in full screen (again Windows Media Player has this problem with its default skin).

Thanks.
I'm using GOM Player.
I don't know it is good or there are better alternatives, but is is fine for me.

Pot Player is one of the best alternative.
I use Pot Player Portable.
Saves time from updates.
MPV is a open source and cross-platform alternative.

Media player classic is a good alternative windows-only.
https://mpc-hc.org/

I use MPV right now, but I still keep VLC since there are some functionality (video converter, stream downloader etc... that are only present on VLC).
I like SMPlayer.

If this is a screenshot, then that is unfortunately an example of the thing I mentioned in OP: interface appearing over the movie when in non full screen.

Thanks for the suggestions nonetheless. I will take a look at them.

EDIT: sorry, wrong text quoted.

I use mpv and ffmpeg.
You have also Media player Classic BE with some additional options and bug fixes. I used GOM Player but it is annoying with ads.

I'm used to it looking like , but the default look when I installed it on Windows 10 just now seems to be that.

I think they have older versions you can download.
kinda depends on the formats and codecs you need. those codec packs to bridge compat are a nightmare a lot of times

I haven't used MPV too much but I think this only happens when you hover your mouse cursor over bottom part of the window. And it doesn't show up when you pause playback.

the interface is like vlc on my computer, it is not like in that screenshot.
maybe it is different depending on the platform you use that, but I'm sure you can try that really fast.

EDIT.
here you can see. to make a screen with the commands I had to move my cursor during the screenshot.
also check here for the usual not present interface (this is not fullscreen, it is just part of the screen to reduce size of the jpg).
