Hello

I'm a huge supporter of GoG and Galaxy for years (since it's out), but sincerely, this not a walk in the park for slow connections...
I bought Plague Tale Requiem yesterday, and because I have a very (very) slow connection (0,3MB/s during good days, it takes me between 1 and 2 hours for a single GB *IF* I do absolutely nothing else on internet at the same time), I wanted to download the offline installer through the connection I have at work...
It took me the whole day because I'm quite busy, but I finally came back home with it... To discover that the 2 last files are from a newer version... (1052 instead of 1051)
And so my entire installer can't work. (I even tried to change the file names, it only end with "corrupted files").

I think I'm good to re-download the entire batch tomorrow (if I have the time), but I was wondering if I could just download the 2 "bad" (too new) files from the older version (which came out today anyway), I could manage to install the game in 6 or 7 hours... But it seems impossible to download any "old" version... Am I right ?

I love GoG, but every time I buy a "big" game, I know by advance it will be a hell of a chore for a lot of days before I can play it.
I think Galaxy ends with the same type of errors on my side : when I start a download that will last several days, it very often stucks with an error at random points, and I often have to delete all and redownload from scratch, if I don't have the big luck to have the "verify cache" option not grayed and that can "fix" the error and continue the download.
I strongly suspect that those errors come when an update is out during my download, which is pretty absurd with a platform like Galaxy, but I run out of ideas and workarounds...

You're right, there isn't a way that I know of either. GOG refuses to let users access "outdated" offline installers, which imo is because they want everyone to install using Galaxy (the "rollback" feature for Galaxy, combined with the lack of being able to access old installers/old patches/etc, is imo meant to tempt you to "just use Galaxy"). If GOG let us access the old versions of offline installers, you would be able to download the 2 missing files.
Yeah I'm aware of the rollback feature on Galaxy... But it implies to already have installed the game.
Too bad...

I have to cross my fingers tomorrow so there is no update during my downloads. (even if I spot the version change, I wont be able to "re-download" all the new files for lack of time if it's in the middle)

This is such a chore for every game that is a bit big (10GB is already at "risk" for me).
I don't really care having to wait several days of download, I'm used to it for 30 years... but when at the end the whole spent time is just "lost" because of some obscure errors impossible to fix... *This* really piss me off.

I don't buy some games I want for years only because of that.

Is this a regional problem? If not, do you know someone with a fast connection who could download it for you? If I knew someone with a connection that slow, I'd ferry their owned games over on a USB stick.

Unfortunately, old versions of offline installers aren't available, as noted above. You can vote for the request in the community wishlist.

Oh my poor friend, I've already voted for this several years ago :D
(I'm one of the 7 yeah !)

This is a basical ADSL issue : I live in a house at 5 - 6 km from the connection node, and I'm tied to the physical câble.
Optical fiber connection is in progress in my zone, but the worksite is stuck down the road (literally 500m) for 2 years now... (and over cellular phone is not an option, I have a very bad coverage at my house, and we have no unlimited data options in my country)
I'm my own "friend with a big connection" at my work, with between 4MB/s and 8MB/s, but as already said, I'm very busy and I can't download all files at the same time, neither chain them as fast as I would. (this is a high school, I can't leech the bandwight from my colleagues)

I'll just try again tomorrow and cross my fingers.

Could you maybe wait a few days before downloading it?
It would be a lot less likely the change version halfway through downloading then.
And you could play another game, in the meantime.
We are in holidays in a few days and for 2 weeks, if I miss that windows, I'm good to have to DL the game from my house... 50-70 hours straights (without the possibility to play online or even watch a youtube video in 720p during that DL).
I can't really wait. Or I would have not bought the game at all and wait for a sale... (which I do a lot already). But this doesn't really fix my DL issues.

I'm already playing a lot of solo offline games "to wait for this new one to be finally downloaded" (without error and restarting the DL from scratch). And I don't even speak about the dozens of daily updates... (900 games on Steam, 900 on GoG, some on Ubisoft, Origin and Battlenet...)

Most of the times, that's updates themselves that tells me which game I *can* play. I'm used to it for so long...

But I must admit, sometimes (rarely) I'm totally crazy : I wanna play a certain game during certain holidays (totally absurd !)
And often it's a fail...

Reaching out to a mod might help you. I have heard of that working in the past, to get older install files for an incomplete download.
I managed to download and install it. It took me the entire day again, mainly because I spent 3 hours at emergency... (I broke a finger at work, I can barely touche my mouse)
Now I cross my other hand fingers to get well fast so I can play !

You speak about a mod ? How this could allow to DL an older version ? Do you mean some "saves mirrors" on other sites ? (I must admit I do this sometimes to try before buy, but here I didn't even thought about this, I already bought)
But I don't get the relation with mods.
Yeap, you now need to re-download the whole shebang...
I ranted about that quite a bit when Pathfinder: Kingmaker was released.

That thing got *daily* updates, sometimes even more than one per day, for at least two weeks after release.
I could only fully download it on the weekend.

But not only were the main installers updated after most of these patches, no. GoG also only keeps the last 4 updates available for download. And for Pathfinder, these were dependend on each other. Remember the sometimes more than one update per day? Miss one? Download it *all* again...

That was when i caved and grudgingly installed Galaxy. But that has not really improved my opinion about GoG, and i barely bought any more games here from then on out.

Not gonna lie - I would go crazy with that DL-"speed".
I just downloaded a 10GB file. Took me about 6 to 7 minutes.
And that had me already thinking: "come on, what's taking so long?"
I absolutely recommend you getting a better connection, as soon as it is available to you.
With today's DL-sizes...and it won't get better in the future, that's for sure.

I know that, I can't unless I move, and I'm tired of moving. (I moved 12 times in the 15 last years)
For 1 year I had 8MB/s, my house was at 200m from the DSLAM, but I had to move again... (almost 20 years ago, even in cities there were not that much people plugged to adsl)
Now I don't plan to move and I wait for this optical wire to finish those last 500m to my home... (until I move again)

Oh wow ok, I was miles from the topic.
