So I noticed that now there is a "Verified Owner" tag next to GOG reviews. However, I noticed that when I did a review for a game that I own in my GOG library, I don't have the tag next to my name. Is this how it's meant to work? Does "Verified Owner" mean something else? Or is there a lag time for GOG to verify that you're the owner of a product?

Could it be that you own a different version of the product? I mean something like a special edition, a previous version of the game (such as the old Fallout games before Bethesda took over and stripped them of their extras), or perhaps a backers reward from a Kickstarter (I've heard that they sometimes aren't registering in the store as an owned game).

It may be that ALL reviews posted before the verified owner tag was a thing are not marked as such as it's probably a script run at the time the review is posted rather than a real time attachment to the review.
Nope, my one and only review was posted before the site redesign and I’m still shown as a verified owner. Probably an issue with different editions of the same game.

If that were true, then there'd probably be only a few score of reviews (at most) in the entire store that have the "Verified Owner" flag, given that the feature was just rolled out; even a cursory glance at a handful of old game pages in the couple days since the rollout shows a significantly greater number than that.
Besides, you can see the date a review was posted, and there are reviews going all the way back to 2008 that are flagged that way.
Honestly, if a review was written before you bought the game, it shouldn't automatically get the "verified owner" tag. It's still a review that was written before the game was actually bought. It doesn't suddenly get more valid just because the author bought the game after the fact.

Maybe that's the case here.
Or maybe GOG has set a grace period between the purchase of a game and the posting of a review, before it gets "validated" with this tag.

Yeah. I was just thinking that something half-assed like that would fit GOG. Dunno. Gotta give them credit, while it is screwed up, it wasn't that simple.

Have you looked into it again?
Maybe a log out/log in again later?
Sometimes such things just need time to show up.

I've just had a look again and still not coming up as a verified owner. This is for a review I put in for Door Kickers (and I thought there's only one edition/version of Door Kickers?)

Tried logging out and logging back in, no effect.

You're right, might just need some time to show up but it's taking a while :). Already been several hours.
Try contacting support about it. It wouldn't surprise me that it something on GoG's end, especially since all these changes are new.

Do you have 'In library' check for this game? A huge number of games on GOG are not marked as owned due to difference with the pre-order version or kickstarter special version.

Yes, it has the "In Library" tick against it.

I'll contact support as tremere110 suggested - couldn't hurt.

Silly question : Did you redeem your game via Gog Connect ?

Not a silly question at all.

I don't think I did, I have a receipt where it says I purchased it with a whole bunch of other games during a sale. Also, I don't have the game on Steam.
I read reviews a few days ago that said they had purchased the game, but were not among the "verified owners". A few days later I checked them again, and they were actually among the "verified owners", so maybe you actually have to wait a while for the system to detect the possession of a game.
