Hey there.

I've been downloading my games, thanks in no small part due to the wonderful script that puts downloader links on the main store page (because Galaxy is a fucking NIGHTMARE to download games in bulk).

However, I've noticed a couple of my games don't have downloader links. So far, it's Chantellise and Chronicles of Riddick. Is Downloader finally being phased out? And if so, will Galaxy FINALLY be updated to more easily download content in bulk?
I didn't even know the downloader was still a thing, to be honest.

And a godsend when you have to download a bunch of installers at once.

EDIT: Fez is also missing DL links.

I suppose that downloading files in bulk must try Galaxy.

Not so much that, it's just that you have to go through the whole multiple layers of menus to get to the goodies, and then when you go back to library, it doesn't remember where you were, so you have to scroll again.

That sounds annoying. I haven't archived my GOG games in many years - I found it took a lot of effort using the Downloader and it just felt a bit pointless when I'd just have to update something two weeks later because it updated. Felt like far too much work. I don't tend to use many of the extras provided, so I guess Galaxy works well for me.

Incidentally, if you haven't already you should submit a Support query about Galaxy not remembering your previous position.

Definitely sounds like something GOG should look into for a future update. Still, it's amazing they didn't think this would be an issue.

And we can now rule out the idea that it's just games no longer on the store. In addition to the Duke games still having downloader links, the Ion Maiden dev build is missing them.
Aren't those all games that were removed at some point from the GOG store? In these cases the GOG Downloader links don't work anymore (I noticed it with the original Simon the Sorcerer). Other than that, I haven't had any problems with the downloader.

Maybe because Ion Maiden is In Dev?

I will check latet when I have access to my laptop. One of the blues said not long ago that they are not discontinuing the Downloader on purpose.

Are the downloader links still available in the sub menu on the usual separate page?

And which version of the script are you using? I presume you are using AdaliaFundamentals, but you may be using the older original version (which behaved differently).

It does sound like games that have been removed from the catalogue is the common denominator... not sure I have any such games to check myself though.

Edit: Actually I do have Warsow, which was removed and the links still work as far as I can see. But the actual page containing the separate links is missing. This leads me to believe you're probably using the original script which relied on that page, unlike AF which gets the links in a different way.

Maybe try to check if it’s available via gogrepo?

I archive all my games and updates with gogrepo. It’s got lots of useful options and it’s super easy to use with a simple batch file. I just run the batch file automatically once a day and every update gets downloaded automatically.

My batch file looks like this

python gogrepo.py update -lang de en -os windows linux -updateonly
python gogrepo.py download

And it automatically checks for any updates for German/English game versions for Windows and Linux, and then downloads them.

Super easy, and everything gets downloaded. Even Alan Wake, that got removed from the store (last year or so) due to expired music licenses. If you bought a game before it got removed for whatever reason you should be able to download it.

You should give gogrepo a try.

The games in question, other than Ion Maiden, don't have the links in their normal page. It's how I was able to rule out a problem with the script. It's odd, though, because the Duke Nukem games, which were also removed some time ago, still have their downloader links, as do the Fallout Classic releases (which I would imagine have different links than the newer Bethesda releases).

I just downloaded teh new AdaliaFundamentals version of the script, apparently includes Magog integration. Hopefully the ones I've found are the only ones I have to worry about and I can thus use Galaxy when I'm done downloading the rest, but if not, I'm hoping the Magog integration will help me.
