I saw GOG has this on sale, and the video looks interesting; but, I was trying to determine, is there always only one person in the party, or can the character acquire other party members?

And if anyone has played the game, was it worth it?

Thanks!

Van Helsing to me is the Diablo 3 I am promised and not let down.

Other than the great graphic, game play, story, soundtrack, environment, it has great humor and ester eggs and less hand holding.

Van helsing have a memorial companion that you can choose to invest in skills to improve her in certain ways. And reduce shopping trip immensely. You can hear her talk from time to time with interesting banter.

Not all quest will show up in your quest log. some quest require you to carefully see and hear for clues. Not all quest have to be done one way only. There are 2 or more ways to complete a quest. Certain choice you make now affect future events in the game.

As for party, like Diablo, Torchlight. You control one character and have companion, summons, pets that follow you.

One of the gimmicks of the Van Helsing series is that there are two main characters: Van Helsing as the fighter, while he has the support of a ghost who assists in various ways. You can accumulate skill points for each character, pursuing whatever specialty that tickles your fancy.

I recommend not playing until you have the Final Cut edition, which is supposed to turn all three games into a single campaign.

You may want to note that the final cut will be given free to people who own all three games.

We are not sure how gog will manage it, but it should be cheaper to get them now on discount.
Thanks to everyone's replies. I am going to get both games!
