I just learned the news, that the game has lost it's developer...

https://www.relyonhorror.com/latest-news/vtm-bloodlines-2-loses-its-developer-all-but-canceled/?fbclid=IwAR1eySMrUT19w0H9iUKiizSfCRsniNMl5KRwaBJarrrFMsS0YngA0JOkskg

According to their statement, the game isn't cancelled, but I'm honestly annoyed by this news.
Who knows now, if the game will be released in 2022 or 2023...

@GOG Staff

I've pre-ordered the game when the pre-orders became available a long time ago. I sadly don't know my order number anymore, but is it possible to cancel my pre-order and ask for a refund in this case? Because I really start to lose hope that this game will ever see the light of day...

If you go to your account settings you have order history, there you should be able to find the order number.
Shit, they've lost almost the entire team.

As the game hasn't been released, you can cancel the preorder without problem. Go to "orders and settings" and you'll be able to find its number to ask for a refund.

Should I cancel my preorder too? Any recent news about this game aren't promising at all...
Thanks for the quick help guys :)
It's the first time I ever intend to ask for a refund, so your help is greatly appreciated :)

@Lone_Scout

It's a tricky question. When I read the news this morning I was also unsure about what to do. But I think during pandemic times a refund might be the better option. There's always the possibility to buy it again as soon as there's a definitive release date in 1 or 2 years.

Could just take advantage of the 30 days-refund policy too.
Should VTMB2 ever be released, that is.

That tangled, sorry mess of a *travesty* (and malarkey) that has the audacity to call itself Vampire Bloodlines' successor, gets constantly degraded and devolved. As i said before in the dedicated thread at game's subforum; I can't thank you enough for saving me 90+ euros! Much appreciated!!!

That and i can't stress enough the imprtance of people's precious advice, constantly reminding gamers, to NEVER PREORDER!

Long answer:
- GOG has disabled preorder for this game. So they don't know either when it will come to their store.
- The publisher is Paradox. So when they eventually release the game, it will be chopped to bits and will be sold piece by piece as dozens of DLCs
- And, following Paradox's new MO, it may even be changed to a subscription model
- You never know what you get when pre-ordering. That counts double, if you don't know the develper.
- So it would be very prudent to cancel all pre-orders (of this game and in general)

Short answer:
Yes!
I heard that pre-orders were disabled by the direct order of the publisher, Paradox. It was not solely a GOG's decision. Steam and Epic should follow but who knows.

My opinion is that changing of developer is a good thing since the early prototype they showed us was crap. The worst thing is that it might mean a complete game overhaul and it could take 5-6 more years. But I do hope that it only means that they would acquire some key figures from development team into newly founded and fully owned studio. That's what I'd do if I were in their place.
You know what the say about pre-orders (especially in the digital age): Don't do it! You've only got yourself to blame.

It'll be interesting to see what a travesty Bloodlines 2 will become with its development hell.
Nothing but bad news so far for VtMB 2...

It also bricked VtMB 1 discounts at 25% whereas before the announcement of 2, it was regularly at 75%.
Ouch. Another example why pre-ordering isn't a good idea.
If there's any truth to the rumored acquisition of Paradox by Microsoft it could end up (for salvage) at Obsidian, and thus in the hands of Leonard Boyarsky and Tim Cain (of Troika fame) after all.

There's an official announcement by Paradox

Btw, I also sent a request to cancel my pre-order.
What can I say? If you are pre-ordering games from large, established devs/publishers, then you are the problem with the modern video games industry. (intended as a general comment, not as a shot at the OP, specifically)

Sad to see this game continuing it's death spiral though.
