I didnt ever think 2.5 miles was that far in the US.

It's not the 2.5 miles, it's the 2.5 miles to a truck stop. He's obviously not in a huge metropolitan area.

It isn't, although I underestimated the distance - it was actually four miles. (Just checked on Google Earth.)

Still, not very far at all - a couple of songs on my phone either way. I was in the store longer than I was driving on either leg, trying to explain paysafecard to the clerk, until she just told me to check out their prepaid thing, and I found a little card on the bottom of their prepaid kiosk display that basically just contained instructions for the clerk on how to access paysafecard in her syste.

I don't live in the middle of nowhere, either, I just happen to live in a town which is geographically near to some major interstate and turnpike exchanges.

Sounds like you need to find a bank that'll stare fraud in the face and not blink. There are plenty of banks (and pre-paid credit cards) that'll work. Granted, you may have to pay a fee for the foreign transaction, but you wouldn't have to put up with your bank telling you what you can and can't do with YOUR money.

I hope your payment issue gets worked out soon.

out of interest... why is it (in the US at least) people dont bother to walk such short distances?! - that is, I never hear anybody saying "well, it was only a couple of miles so we walked it".
Granted, the UK is more densley populated, but still - you're less likely to get stabbed in the US than... Scunthorpe

So I have no experience with paysafe. Sachys' recommendation of paypal without registering is a good solution.

While I'm not a fan of your bank telling you that you'd be liable for fraudulent transactions, at least they thought for a moment and tried to find a solution. If they're up for solution-finding, maybe ask them if they can whitelist foreign transactions only for one specific website, gog.com.

We get 300 inches of snow a year! You come up here and walk in that! :P
