Swedrami: Now listed in the "Upcoming" section.
So in another two years? =P
Soul Reaver has no "remaster", Soul Reaver needs no "remaster".

Well, actually a save system that's not console inspired would be nice, but it is what it is. It being a slightly painful experience is part of its "charming" atmosphere.

I don't care how old this thread is, I want this game from gog.com so bad.
Looks like it's been removed from "coming soon". Shame.
From what i'd heard, the group owning the rights are in quite a pickle right now legally and financially.

Odds of a game coming seems slim, and even if it did it sounds like it would be shoved full of woke nonsense.

Best to just forget it exists for a while.
They should've left the original untouched and still on sale if you ask me, it was still very much playable and enjoyable. But alas, it got hit by the "remastering" craze.

Seriously. Geez.
Well, we can probably add the game here now:

high rated
Well, now we can safely say the original is not coming back....

The only YT vid I could find for those averse to Twitter... I mean X. It leaked so not that many vids out there yet:
EDIT: Found a better quality video:

Seems like this "soon" took almost exactly 3 years. Nice one GOG. Could also probably mean the rest of the series is in the pipeline. So grab the originals while you can, optimally in the next discount. They might get included in the remaster, but at a very inflated price. And well, RIP to anyone who didn't get the first Soul Reaver before it was pulled.

Some might say this be the perfect time to go trawling the seas for the missing original version, y'argh.
Not suggesting anyone do so, by the by, but it's not like I can stop anyone...

That's a benefit if they didn't, not a detriment.

I have Soul Reaver on disc and it's one of the worst games of all-time, with horrendously awful jumping puzzles, and no quicksave feature to save the game before a jump attempt, which makes for needless endless hours of tedious repetition & backtracking & aggravation due to said horrible game design.

To each their own I guess. As it's a console game through and through, I never found difficulty to be a problem. Sure, if you are not used to keyboard only 3rd person controls (people able/willing to play old games keyboard only seem to be in an ever-diminishing supply), you might run into trouble. But the most difficult thing about the game is the sometimes obscure progression, which goes away after the first playthrough.

Why "Nice one GOG" instead of "Nice one Square Enix" and then "Nice one Embracer" who I think bought the games? What does the store have to do with the game devs and when they decide to realease their games?

I think the bigger question here is are these new remastered version coming to GOG cause I see them already on Epic and Steam? And why do you think the other games are at risk - do you think they will get remastered too? I guess its possible. But then why they pulled just the first game I will never understand and also now they are owned by another company so who knows. For me these games need remakes!

As a long-time fan, a remaster was long, LONG overdue, and if they manage to include all the cut content it'll probably be the best way to experience these games

I mean, even if they don't and just revamp the controls it will be the best anyway lol
