eric5h5: Yes, that's Quake II. That was the era of "Ooh, we can do colored lighting! COLORED LIGHTING EVERYWHERE!!!!!"
The original Quake 2 didn't have colored lighting. That was only introduced after it was added to the later console ports.
I guess that's the enhanced version.

(note: Mysteries of the Sith was the first 3D shooter on the PC having colored lights)

Is there any way to play online with the backup installer? I get an error message that I'm not logged in with no opportunity to sign into my Bethesda account. Is GOG Galaxy required?

Yes,you need Galaxy to play online. Wich sucks. The original has LAN/IP, so the remaster should too.

That's so strange since Quake Enhanced didn't require Galaxy. Seems like a step backwards. Thank you for the info.
The game also supports Local ( bots ) and LAN like the original

It may feature bots, but they seem to be pretty dumb/inaccurate in comparison to their UT and Quake 3 counterparts.

It absolutely, 100% did. And they made sure you knew it. You're thinking of Quake 1, or maybe you played it with software rendering.

My mistake, I was thinking about Quake 1.
And no, I played on 3Dfx Voodoo, later on two Voodoo2's :)

I played on some kind of ATI Radeon (not AMD), on a CRT monitor. Since UI scaling wasn't really a thing at the time, I had to stick to 800x600 or the UI was too small to read at a glance. But the CRT was fast enough that at lower resolutions like 800x600, it could run at 120Hz, and my computer could run Quake II at that speed too. After playing that for quite some time, it kind of ruined 60fps for me.
Be nice if I could download this at anything like a reasonable speed with my usual downloader.

I had a brief respite, for one day a couple of days ago, where it was back to a normal downloading speed of 4.x Megabytes a second, but now things are even worse than what they have been for the last couple of weeks and maximum speed is about 300 kilobytes a second. It was that last night and again today.

I know it's the weekend, but jeeze, you can give a better download speed than that GOG.

And it's not just that Enhanced version I am currently trying to download from GOG, but around 14 GB in all.

A sad day, when I get penalized for using gogli.exe and fare much much better with Free Download Manager 5 where I am getting download speeds ranging from 4.x to 5.x megabytes a second ... the wonders of multi-threading.

It is pretty safe to say that GOG are deliberately limiting download speed via the GOG SDK/API ... at least for me here in AUS.

Hopefully the downloads will pass the MD5 check ..... yes they did.

Wait what, Quake II Enhanced?! Huh, I had absolutely no idea this was even in the workings lol. Nice!

After briefly looking at the screenshots... damn! Looks like an entire new game to me, and one that looks pretty awesome at that! Thou I gotta say, I've never actually got to play Quake II (only the first one), so yeah... can't say that I'm too familiar with what the original really looks like. But still, from what I remember the difference is quite remarkable.

Anyway, glad to see this here (and without a huge delay, like how it happened with the first one :P). Also, always glad to see not only the new "enhanced", or whatever fancy name they decide to throw at it, as well as the original version of a game included. Please let that be the norm.

Wishlisted for now (still gotta get the first one thou -.-)!

Amazing remaster. Hopefully Quake 4 is next. :)
It would be really nice if Enemy Territory: Quake Wars could make a comeback...

Man, this remaster is really, really good. There are a couple of issues (like the missing recoil) that I'm sure will get sorted out in a bit of time, but the game just feels so good to play. And there's a ton of content - really impressive stuff.

Also, it's great to see this here alongside the other storefronts/platforms. The wait last time was pretty awful so it's nice to be able to just jump into this one with no nonsense.
I have a problem with an online multiplayer game. I am getting a message like this :"One or more accounts failed to signs into multiplayer"
