DeMignon: We've got some issues with users impersonating others by creating very similar looking fake accounts. Without the join date / rep info it's pretty easy to fall for these fakes.

Can't believe I missed this thread untill just now. Ah well, better late then never... which seems to be the theme here :P

I'm very glad to see that there is SOMETHING being done, even if it's just bringing back options that should never have been removed. It's a far cry from all we asked for and all this forum/community needs, but it's a start. I just hope it does not turn out to be the end. We're hearing way too much about things being "planned" and "on the drawing board". After how long we've waited, and how much we had to plead, argue and ABUSE CAPS LOCK just to get chat fixed it's hard to be very confident about future developements.

And why can they still send a friend request anyway, if the user selected chat with nobody?

I'm glad to see that you're not ignoring the problems in the site. Galaxy is nice, but try to not spend too much time improving it and ignoring all the other stuff that is going on, like rep abuse, for example.

What do you think about requiring a purchase on GOG before someone can post links instead of requiring a certain amount of positive rep? It would require a direct order through the GOG store at least once. You can also set this as a requirement for +- repping a user to prevent alt account abuse. Money is always a deterrent for problematic users. :)

Thank you for adding the option to delete messages, but before I do so, can I please get back the hundreds of messages that I had in the old PM system and which you had promised will be quickly migrated to the new chat system?

The option to paygate the forums has been considered (for instance, when the Korean spammers attacked), but discarded in favor of letting honest users, who just want to find out if a game's worth their purchase (or if it has a certain feature they remember) ask their question without the need to buy something. However, since you're not the first person saying it may be a good topic to consider, I'll try to get back to it with the team :)

An update on this would be appreciated, I wrote to support about this problem two months ago and they said they were working on it but until now I did not get any of my missing messages back. So it would be great if you could give us a timeline.

I'm also up for paygate when comes to repping. It's not like you take away posting ability from new users. However, it will be more accurate if account also requires some amount of rep in my opinion.
