dick1982: ability to block/ignore users in the forum , instead of hiding each and every post, would be good too.
yeah no
gog relies on their users to do that so they dont have to give any fucks
just pretend to once in a while to keep the plebs happy
So this is it? This is the "solution" that took 1 month for a web team to come up with, ONE MONTH! A feature that was removed from the pm system...

HOW IS THIS A SOLUTION?

You block "ashasgjldk" and delete his chat, mess than 5m minutes "adsihskdg" appears to continue the harassment and so on, this isn't a solution. WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?

You guys just don't care, do you? You grab something that was probably the easiest thing to do (since it was already available on the previous version of the forum) and "Hey guys, we solved your problem, we're listening, see?".

I'll show what is a permanent solution (for me):

I wish all good things for the nice people that i've met in this forum and you can still find me (whenever i bother to turn on the galaxy app) via chat but i no longer have interest in this forum or this store, drm was never a problem to me and my main interest here was old games no longer available digitally but i can live without those.
Hope that one day (perhaps before the release of Cyberpunk 2077 if you guys are lucky) they actually fix the problems and you can hang around in peace but considering their ambition mixed with incompetence i seriously doubt it.

Best of luck for you.
Could be blocking possibility tied to account, not user name? Just in case someone change his user name and start his soap drama again.. Also forum post history would be neat feature : )

thank you!

stg83: The reason why these are "much requested" is that they were old features in the previous PM system. So its something that was removed when transitioning to chat and should have been common sense to have them by now. It only took about three months or so to finally bring back "Clear" plus "Block and Report" since they were last indicated to being in the works.

snowkatt: gee just 3 months
with some luck we will get more improvements before 2016 !

and for a "social grunt" our community "manager" isnt on much and doesnt pay attention much either
Sorry if it seems like we were inactive on the issue - from what I understand in terms of workflow here, various tasks are "in progress" for a longer time as they're in plans to be done at some point, or after some other feature is created/fixed/amended. Since I was now able to share that the team is actively coding/testing this functionality, I used the term "working on". Sorry if that wasn't specific enough!

As for other questions/suggestions, I'm forwarding them to the web team to be answered, addressed, or added to the forum improvements list as they appear. I'll get back to you, or ask one of the guys to do so, as soon as we can.
This is all good, but chat isn't the biggest problem here. It's the forum and the people who make multiple account to harass and attack people and their rep. Just being able to block someone doesn't cut it. Like Cyraxpt said when you block one they will just make another account. This also doesn't stop them from harassing you in the forums. I and many others over the last week or two have been rep attacked. Just in a short few hours my rep went down from 50 to what it is now.

Pretty soon these forums are just gonna die because nothing is being done about the harassers since there aren't any active mods. If you want the community to stay alive GOG you need to fix this.

right right

so here are a few more suggestions
more transparency actually TELL us something instead of stonewalling us for 3 months and then popping up with a half assed solution

and we have far far far bigger problems then just the "chat system"
but priorities right ?

It should be account, not user name. Each user has an ID after all, which is independent of name or email, and that should be the one used for blocking users.

Ciris: Hi guys and gals!

We are working on two much requested improvements to the chat system:

Let me know if you have any questions, I’ll gather them and pass them over to the web team or get someone from their tech-savvy band to stop by and answer them for you!

catpower1980: Nice but a third and fourth one would be useful for practical matters so it would be good make them come back (as it was working well with the previous PM system in fact) while the web team is working on it:

3. When sending a PM to someone for the first time : show in the ""chat users tab" on the left the person we're sending a message to. Currently, we have to check the adress displayed in the browser (firefox/chrome) to be sure we're sending the PM to the right person.

4. Display the "chat users tab" by reverse date order with the last users we had a conversation/PM exchange on top of the list as the current system is a bit painful when you log in and have a few PM's from different persons.

TLDR: If one guy of the old web team is still there (I hope GOG didn't terminate theirs contracts like they did with TET...), ask him/her how they made the old PM system, that's what "senior" workers are meant for ;)
YARP!

Great idea. It'd be pretty ridiculous to see the person you blocked appear again... Hope that won't be the case.

As I understood it, this is one of many steps. I'm waiting for the next ones, even if it takes a while (unless I start getting targeted myself).

In case I'm wrong, I'll start agreeing with you guys...

Blocking is tied to account ID - so, even if someone changes their display name, they'll remain blocked on your list until you manually click "unblock" on your account page. Account history is also on the list of features we're planning on introducing in the future.

Should be, indeed. Not quite sure it is..

golf clap
well thats at least something
but we still have to wait for somebody to contact us instead of preemptively blocking them on the forum

Thank you for clearing things up Ciris. I have no further questions Your Honor!
