Oh this thread is MUCH better than comedy television... thanks, everyone for the chuckles. Too bad it's about a shamefully stupid thing that wasn't great before but wasn't actually broken.

Top men indeed...:-p
Today's Polish Joke:

What is long and hard that a Polish bride gets on her wedding night?

oh shortsightedness....

the entire forum's a mess. wouldn't surprise me if they can't get simple things to work because the code is so damn broken.
Let's have a bet how long the top men of GOG will need. I'd say anything between two weeks minimum up to six months.

Firek: Sorry it is taking longer than expected, but rest assured that we've got top men working on this right now.
This definitely has potential for another GOG meme. It basically summarizes the situation of GOG for the last years in a single sentence. :)

You mean once we find them?

Breja: "Your mission, should you chose to accept it, is to bring back some basic functions to the CHAT system that people have beend demanding for months. Our Web Team has gone rogue, and is currently working on blocking the forum users ability to write such words as "bottom" and "ass" in capital letters. You need to infiltrate the web team, and implement the basic chat features without their knowledge. This message will self destruct in 5 seconds."

TWO WEEKS LATER

-Sir, we have lost contact with the Alpha Squad. The CHAT features have not been implemented.

-Damn. Initiate the D&D Distraction Protocol, and get me the President.
Well that was done well.

edit: yeah wow the post will not go through with any dirty word in capitals. this is a pretty terrible system.

some people use caps for emphasis. if they so much as emphasise one dirty word in their post they'll just sit there and watch it fail. that's not a good idea.

No apology for the inconvenience? Colour me disappointed.

I guess after Good News™ and Soon™, it's time for Two Weeks™?

Perhaps you missed the part, at the beginning of his sentence, where he said "Sorry it is taking longer than expected..."?

They might have had to take a hard look at their back end because of the account troubles that people were having. Hell, they might even be redesigning the forum now.

Nope, that's only an apology for the delay, no "I apologise/ I'm sorry for the inconvenience". ;-)

*shivers in horror, thinking of the implications*

Firek made a typo. He didn't mean "top men", he meant:

JMich: Not the best choice of word I'd say.
Given GOG's track record over the past couple of years, it's probably exactly the right choice of words. At least from an "honesty towards customers" perspective, if not a PR one.

It's survival food for university students over here. Actually, add a few leftover veggies and meat chunks in with it, and it tastes okay. Too much salt and MSG in the seasoning packet to eat every day, though.

Can't say I ain't disappointed with the delay, was still crossing my fingers hoping GOG can fix (or rather unfix if u know wat I mean) the chat system @ the very least on time last week but apparently I was too optimistic. Makes u wonder just how long will it take Top-Men 2 fix the rest of the issues plaguing this forum (that is, if they ever decide 2) when they can't even deliver us some gd news other than the standard 'We-are-doing-our-best-2-resolve-this-issue-as-soon-as-possible' PR response...
Congratulations! It's been a week since the "top men" missed the deadline! Shall we ever hear from them again? Tune in next week!

You know, at this point I would find an honest "nothing is going to get fixed so just fuck off" better than this empty silence following empty promises.
