Hi guys and gals!

We are working on two much requested improvements to the chat system:

CLEARING A CONVERSATION

You’ll be able to delete messages from a conversation on your end, while keeping the other user on your contacts list. The other person will still have a copy of the conversation in their inbox and will be able to contact you again in the future.

BLOCKING ANOTHER USER

You’ll be able to block another user on chat - they won’t be able to write to you and you won’t be able to contact them. They will disappear from your contacts list and will be added to your list of blocked users. You'll be able to unblock users on a dedicated page in your settings.

Our web team plans to implement these two options within the next 2 weeks.

Let me know if you have any questions, I’ll gather them and pass them over to the web team or get someone from their tech-savvy band to stop by and answer them for you!

EDIT: You will be able to block a user on chat not only via the chat tab itself, but also in the forums via the tooltip that currently lets you add them to friends, view their wishlist or send a message. Therefore, if you see a spammer on the forum, you will be able to pre-emptively block them from contacting you.

I think it would be a great feature to remove someone from our list of people we have chatted with. Especially if it was just one short message some years ago :/

I'd guess that if you'd block and then un-block someone, it'd do the trick?

Maybe not. We'll have to wait and see (or get a question or two answered in the meantime).

Edit: overall it feels like a positive change, though.

Nice but a third and fourth one would be useful for practical matters so it would be good make them come back (as it was working well with the previous PM system in fact) while the web team is working on it:

3. When sending a PM to someone for the first time : show in the ""chat users tab" on the left the person we're sending a message to. Currently, we have to check the adress displayed in the browser (firefox/chrome) to be sure we're sending the PM to the right person.

4. Display the "chat users tab" by reverse date order with the last users we had a conversation/PM exchange on top of the list as the current system is a bit painful when you log in and have a few PM's from different persons.

TLDR: If one guy of the old web team is still there (I hope GOG didn't terminate theirs contracts like they did with TET...), ask him/her how they made the old PM system, that's what "senior" workers are meant for ;)

The reason why these are much requested is that they were old features in the previous PM system. So its something that was removed when transitioning to chat and should have been common sense to have them by now. It only took about three months or so to finally bring back "Clear" plus "Block and Report" in two weeks since they were last indicated to being in the works.

and for a "social grunt" our community "manager" isnt on much and doesnt pay attention much either

ability to block/ignore users in the forum , instead of hiding each and every post, would be good too.
