You’ll be pleased to hear that point 9.1 was rewritten entirely to be more user-friendly (as per the many suggestions you’ve made) and that all other changes we made in the previously posted versions after your comments remain in the document.

You will have gotten (or will be getting anytime now) an email informing you about the change. If anything is missing, contact us within 30 days - after then, it becomes legally binding and comes into force on the site.

Hi all,

In the coming weeks we plan on introducing a rewritten version of our User Agreement and Privacy Policy. We promised to be even more open and direct with you - our community - about what we are doing and why, so in advance we’re giving you a heads-up and a chance to comment on these changes.

Why are we making any changes at all? There are two key reasons:
1. To address all the new stuff announced / introduced in the recent months, such as new content (Movies), features (in-store credit) or services (Galaxy), all of which ought to be addressed from the legal standpoint. At the same time our current Terms of Use, and especially Privacy Policy, are very old and were due for a refresh for quite some time;
2. To make our legal documents as understandable as humanly (or should we rather say legally ;) possible, That’s why on top of making the legally binding part as user-friendly as we could, we have also prepared a short summary of all the points on the right side of them (that’s for the lazy ones ;).

I was just skimming over it quickly since I don't have time to read all of it at the moment, so I just wanted to say a quick thanks for the summary part and also for not wording the legally part in a way that no sane person could understand :D

I don't think it's the servers. From the available evidence, it seems to only trouble Australians and some Americans. As such, it's much more likely to be a routing problem. See this thread for more information: http://www.gog.com/forum/general/anyone_else_experiences_problems

When I saw the thread name, I worried. When I saw the username next to it, I trembled.

I don't know when I'll have the time to go through it, but I will. Eventually. In the meantime, I'm sure I'll be made aware of community concerns on this thread, which I find kinda helpful.

I appreciate the advanced notice on this and will have a read-through tonight. Hopefully there won't be a run on torches and pitchforks.

I have a problem with the gift limit (3.3. "...limit of 5 per day..."). Does it mean 5 gifts per day for a single user or 5 gifts per day total? The later would get in the way of many giveaways. And what does "...might defer on a
case by case basis..." mean? Do I have to contact support beforehand if I want to host a bigger giveaway?

the whole section 3.3 is ambiguous worded. It can be interpreted that I can give you my gOg games (up to 5 a day :)) but not sell them to you.

I don't have time to read through the stuff right now but I'm very impressed that you (GOG) are being so open about it and discussing things with the community. +1 GOG!

Will this be only in the Galaxy client, or do you plan on implementing this on the site as well? And if so, when can we expect it? While I absolutely adore this way of phrasing it, are you sure your lawyers agree that this is acceptable "legalese"? I sure hope it is, because these are terms and conditions everyone can read and understand. This section is sadly absent from the document. Please make sure it gets added ;-p

Since the last 2 are excluded for being jokes, does this means I can sue you if I can't download my installers during an alien invasion? I don't care much about Gozilla, he comes and goes; but aliens have a nasty tendency to force humans to live underground and hidden for long periods of time, and washing your hands to provide DRM-free games just when they are most needed is an underhanded move, IMO.

And that's not getting into the reciprocity of the "neither of us will be liable to the other". Still, I'll trust GOG to not recover loses caused by a Gozilla attack by suing its users for not gaming during the attack. However, I would like to receive official confirmation that Ubisoft won't try to do so making use of this document.

Damn, does this mean possible DRM intrusion, sneakily, the back door, legal way? Add or remove features? Like that Rockstar stunt over there at Steam's, deleting soundtrack (game content) from a legally purchased game, later on?

All in all, i saw nothing new (or dangerous) for a customer, but please, do comment, concerning those above; thanks in advance...

The only big thing I see is the 5 gifts per day limit. I'd like to know more about that. I know that during some of these big sales, I gift myself codes for future giveaways. Am I limited to 5 gifts to myself?
