KiNgBrAdLeY7: Add or remove features? Like that Rockstar stunt over there at Steam's, deleting soundtrack (game content) from a legally purchased game, later on?
avatar
vsr: Or like Gothic 2 Gold was "patched" here on GOG. Now it is impossible to install vanilla Gothic 2. :(
Before it was "patched" there was a checkbox in installer's Options, which provides you freedom to install vanilla game or with addon. Now it's gone and game installs only with addon. :( And people are forced to use custom patches made by community.
I downloaded the earlier Gothic 2 Gold installer and i'm free from this hassle. That's right, when game is DRM-Free publisher can't screw it's customers so easily like in Steam (*cough* GTA San Andreas *cough*).
Oh... :( I see. I got to agree that being unable to access vanilla content, even if the updated version has more stuff, is actually nasty. On my side, i regret being unable to access the vanilla "Symphony" game, which had a trick for getting another reward weapon if you did not like the random one earned.

Yes, more stuff in addon. But at the same time game becomes harder with addon difficulty-wise.
For me difficulty doesn't matter much. I just want to experience same feelings i had when i played it vanilla.
And removal of functionality which was in-place earlier is a bad practice. Game's value shouldn't be downgraded with update patches.
In an ideal world/service it is possible to get content from a revision version control CDN (a-la svn, git), with a complete changelog. If i don't like changes, i won't pull this content and will pull earlier version, which doesn't screw me.
Publishers should be forced to play fair.

Agree. Totally. I myself never been FOR the updated content. Especially the sneaky, obligatory type, like over there, at Steam's. Patches work best the oldfashioned way. You download it manually, and if you like it, you proceed to install.

You are 100% right. I feel the same way about it.
Dear GOG,

I don't know if it is inappropiate to ask, but could we, the minor subjects of your realm, ask your majesty if you could honour us with some feedback. We do know as your loyal subjects, that you would be more than gratefull to spend a few minutes of your holy time feeding us with more wisdom of your wholy spirit.

I know this is a dare question to ask, and regretfully must say, that your loyal servents are eager to wait for more words of wisdom out of your all-knowing and uber-holly majesty.

All respectfully and always at your service.

Sincerly your loyal subject

Goodaltgamer ;)
So is this say that GOG has no liability, or responsibility for updating games? Even if a developer has sent GOG the new version and GOG has not uploaded it as per the developer's request? Are we, the customer, supposed to sniff out these problems for you and if it doesn't get done, it doesn't get done??

That's what I'm experiencing at the moment anyway. This War of Mine, Unepic, Starpoint Gemini 2 oh and most likely Door Kickers at this rate, are a few of my games that I've noticed the dev has uploaded the version and GOG hasn't uploaded on their end.

If a game isn't being updated by GOG or the developer isn't brining their new version here, is that sufficient for a refund? Or is it not 'technical' enough?
Hi, everyone!

Thank you for all your feedback, both the positive and negative, and all the questions and suggestions you've provided in this thread!

As promised, we've gathered all of them and now we're working on a reply.

However, because of the amount of feedback and the number of suggestions we have to consider, this may take a few days :) We'll update this thread again as soon as we have the answers ready!

Out of curiosity, did you ask for feedback outside this thread and the forum?
If it's only this thread, is it really that much feedback? I'm actually a bit disappointed that so few bothered/ cared to take the time to read the drafts and comment on them.

We asked on here - and I agree that 8 pages isn't that long a topic for these forums, but 70 questions and/or suggestions and/or doubts to look through, consult with each relevant department, decide on an option and reply in a coherent way, at the same making sure it's in line with the policies (or, if any, changes to be made) is a bit of work. :)

And as some of those points are rather discussable, it will open again some more questions :)

Oops, misunderstanding. My question was not meant as doubting the amount of work required from your side. As I said, I found the response from the users side rather underwhelming, so was curious if what I read in this thread is actually all there is. :-)
Thank you gog staff for always communicating wit the costumers/community :) it's always a pain to have to wait for gog to release some new stuff :p
Policies shmallicies...

Thanx for the Witcher 2..(I haven't played it yet..but if it's like the first one..guud..)

Btw..dropping to next to dollar prices..ridiculous... ( I HAS NO CASH !!! CAN'T BUY !!)

Really..

Specially since I spent most my cash already..

(..that kinda leads to www.gog.com/forum/general/wanna_scream again..)

nah..it's ok..I'm an impulsive buyer..

but..can you at least have a new year sale as well then ? like a repeat ?..
(so I can get some stuff for the same prices ?.. -.-..-sighs -..)

In all..GOG is guud..still liking the no DRM stuff, and I gained a lil weight..I got 100+ games again....
(and yes, my mental health goes up when my software does..)

Nirth: ........If that is true, than who owns your account?
The responsibility falls onto the legal guardian. The internet is, for want of a better description, and adult only abode - it was designed by adults for adults. All EULA are legally binding contracts which means the person agreeing must be of a legal age. Any EULA worth a pinch of salt will have a segment on legal age limits; e.g. Facebook, Steam, Youtube.

In other words, if a parent gives their child access to the internet and the said child does something with legal ramifications, the guardian is up shit creek without a paddle.

Does this include "receiving" gifts

Your GOG account and GOG content are personal to you .....
Does this mean in the event of my life been terminated I can't will it to my nephew/niece as part of my deceased estate :/

Store Credit is valid for one year from the most recent purchase that gave you Store Credit
I find this extremely disturbing for three (3) reasons;

1.) I'm in Australia so regional pricing means I'll always have store credit.
2.) I dislike using store credit as my receipts always show the game cost as "free" instead of showing the game cost and the credit used to purchase it.
3.) If/When GoG implements a system where a person can "top-up" their store credit, a one (1) year expiration date is ethically wrong.
[edit]: Expiration on any credit (which is basically digital cash) is ethically wrong, unless once expired that money goes to a charity.

6.6
Please treat this system sensibly and don't exploit it (for example by using VPNs or other methods to manipulate how your location appears) – that's not cool
1.) Love the way this has been expressed :)
2.) As an Australian bred from good decent convict stock I can say with all certainty I'd never do this unless GoG merges with Steam
3.) On a serious note; it would be good if we could "fix" our sale location (e.g. Australia) as many people these days live behind VPN's. While I do the proper thing and turn mine off when purchasing from GoG, it also means I have to plan my purchase times. Unless by accident, I've never once purchased from GoG while emulating a foreign IP, nor do I intend to.

It actually looks textbook standard for 2013+

I only just discovered the post and, while knowing I'm too late for GoG to read my notes, have taken the time to read the PDF's to provide feedback.
