The thing that sticks out a lot for me is that the text is hard to read. In the video, there's a dialogue box that takes up the entire screen for such a small amount of text. There's not enough contrast between the name of whoever is talking and the background such that I wouldn't know who is speaking if that information is important to playing the game.

In the screen shot you posted, you don't have that massive dialogue box. However there's still contrast issues that makes it hard for me to read. The light color text sitting on something in the background that is also light colored reminds of some old foreign movies I have on DVD where there's white text on the film print that washes out everywhere it overlaps with anything light colored. Exactly that.
I downloaded the file, but, dood, you're just a name on the screen, so I can't just download an exe file and double click it. I tried to run it through Virus Total, but it says the file is too big.

Anybody tell me of another website that does the same thing that might have a bigger maximum file size? (It appears that the max on Virus Total is 650 or 680 or something (my old eyes and tiny print don't get along too well).

Yes, thats my google drive, Not sure why it does that. I'm gonna be getting a server to host all my files soon. but I assure you it is virus free, google drive wouldnt have let me upload it if there was a virus in it. If you can wait about a week I'll have it uploaded to a server, I just do not have time right now with work.

Hiya, thanks for all your input, most of what you are saying has been taken care of. https://ibb.co/VjZ2CVm
Another thing I've noticed is the video recorder im using does not do the game any justice. the text is fine in game.

Yeah, trusting a random installer uploaded by a random person on-line may be rather hard. Not that it implies much (if any) vetting, but may help if you'd put the demo on itch or indiedb for example.

Yeah, in that second shot you had posted earlier, just putting the text on top of the game screen, with no background, guaranteed that it was going to be hard to read plenty of times, depending on what was in that part of the screen, so doing it this way is better. And getting rid of those character images also helps a lot with that disconnect between voices and images. (Though those images were nice... But maybe TOO nice, JRPG like, not from the sort of world you'd expect such a game to have. And also looked very much AI-generated. Not that I mind, but some would, and many would want any game using that to be upfront about it and include warnings.)

Thanks for all your input and help like I said it goes a long way with me. I agree with you about the ai stuff best to tell peeps up front, those character images were made from a program where you piece them together, not ai. but yes i always thought they looked too pretty.
Im not accusing you of posting malware. I am correcting that point of google scanning stuff. Google stops scanning uploaded content at around 500MB. While it is unlikely to be malware from mr goblin. Im just making sure everyone knows how google rolls.

When you try and download large content. There is a prompt that will ask the user, if they want to continue, as the content was not scanned. Not your game, I mean stuff I have seen on google before. Like system drivers, for an old laptop I needed to fix a few years ago.

I understand, ye I didn't think you were accusing me :) I was just reassuring about virus's, next week I'll be getting the server so I can upload stuff, the demo is like 1.5gb the game its self is like 12gb.

A small video showing how just about everything can be interacted with.
https://youtu.be/1RP5Bt2Ih8Q
Well I guess you got all of the testers you wanted since the file is gone now. I had downloaded the 1.6GB demo, but VirusTotal couldn't scan it so I deleted it. Then (another example of my lack of knowledge) I remembered something I had seen on my security settings before, under Windows Defender it let's you scan a single file or directory. I could have put it through that. So I went to download it again today but it was no longer available at the link.

I wish you the very best of luck, especially since it says you've been gaming since the 80's, which makes you closer to my age than I immediately thought. My first video game experience was Pong, in 1975 (or 4 or 3... whenever it came out). I was in Los Angeles for that summer with relatives and we got that game and then spent the better part of the rest of that vacation... playing Pong lol.

Fun fact, I've still got the system here. Last time I tried (about 7 years ago I think), it still worked like a charm... once you could find a way to attach it to today's TV's with HDMI and such. But I rigged something up on an old, portable TV, and it worked just as it always did.. even the monotonous sound still worked flawlessly.

I would have liked to try the demo and give some feedback, but I'll wait until release. Looking forward to it, including an actual MANUAL... yay!!!! Just like the old days, the first thing I would do whenever I bought any game was... read the manual cover to cover. And I miss that. I always felt so ready to play by the time I installed it and now today all I feel when I install a new game is hope and... a feeling of being lost. No matter how good any tutorial is, it just can't ever give all of the information a manual did. Best of luck.

I sent you the link to the updated demo, its about 35 hours long. The actual game is about 100 to 120.

Got it. Thanks. I got an email from Golden Goblin Interactive saying I would get a link to the demo, buy you posted here first so I downloaded it and installed it. Very interesting. It's got a lot of detail and I can't wait for the manual to better understand the strengths and weaknesses of all of the various choices (it looks like literally hundreds when you consider class, race, attributes, skills, traits, etc. Exactly the kind of old school rpg I used to love from back then.

A couple of small nitpicks. First, when creating your main character, it would be nice if each screen retained your previous choices. I found myself on the skill tree to pick a skill and going back to the attribute page to see exactly what number I had under each attribute, but it would be set back again and I'd have to redistribute those 32 points again.

In game, under options, under the IIRC rules tab (I think), there is no readable text beside each option. If you hover over them, you can see them, but it should probably have viewable text as the other tabs under options do.

It would also be a small (but not nothing) QOL improvement if the mouse wheel could scroll instead of having to press the down and up arrows each time.

I'll take some notes as I play and give my two cents worth at a later time, Just wanted to thank you for the link so I could get started before I got the email with the link. I don't expect any response to my suggestions as I'm sure you get lots but will give them in case they may be of help.

The Kickstarter page said something about an Early Access release, so I guess the Dec release date is for the Early Access version? And to get that must we take the Steam version?

Yes you will be receiving the early access within a couple of days, I'm working on putting it together. the scripting language of my install package program is a pain in the butt. I have the mouse wheel code, I just have not put it in yet, I have to flush out another problem first. Please take down notes of what you would like to see changed I am going to try my best to fulfill every request I can. You mentioned in the options menu text not showing up? It shows up for me, I'm not really sure what you mean, when you have time if you can send me a screenshot that would be nice. Thanks again, let me know if there is anything you need.
Oh I was going to let you know also, the demo isnt very balanced as far as combat goes. and there are certain places you will not be able to go due to it being the demo. You will have much more fun with the early access.
