Believe dat.

It's been 20 years since we crash-landed on a planet full of ugly aliens, snazzy guns, and conveniently places power-ups. Today we're going back for a nostalgic trip FREE of charge!

Together with Epic Games, we are celebrating this anniversary with a 48h giveaway of Unreal Gold, the hallmark FPS that expanded the shooter genre with open areas, sweet weapon upgrades and, well, unreal lighting effects.

Grab it for FREE through our front page banner until May 24, 5pm UTC. If you already own the game, you will receive a code for a friend (needs to be redeemed before June 7th, 10pm UTC).

Then make sure to grab the rest of the Unreal series at 80% off until May 29, 5pm UTC.
Thank you very much for this. An updated backup is always welcome.

Back when Unreal came out i happened to be in Manchester UK. I bought it in the rather plain big box europe got back then plus a shiny Voodoo 2 12mb (by Creative i think) . Firing it up for the first time blew me away. That castle fly-by demo was breathtaking for the time.

*mandatory feel old grumble*

mike_cesara: It is indeed. And as far as I can remember one of the patches removed cd-check from my UT2003 and UT2007 hard copies as well.

viperfdl: Good, then I don't need to buy the other ones. Thanks for the information.
You'd better check for yourself to be sure : D
I'm not sure about UT2004 since I've never played (I still had 2003 at the time installed).. But the other three worked without CD after installation. My edition came with soundtrack and artbook btw.
what does this mean? "Remember to redeem your code before June 7th, 10pm UTC." what code are they talking about?
Thanks for the freebie!

Calibrus: Epic Games needs to decouple from Steam and bring UT 3 here.
Ye!
I've been waiting a while for Unreal Gold to go on sale. Gog has made me very happy today.

Thank you.

Legendary games, thank you Gog!
thanks for the game. I still play ut 2k4 here and there when I'm bored. trying to go through the ladders with bots is still fun today.
Great, thanks! Unreal for the win, has always been my favourite in the vs Quake competition. The music, the feel, the spaces, the taunts... such an amazing game (which got a bot worse, when it was made a bit similar to Quake - UT99 was "light" and the subsequent installments made it a bit "heavier").
Underrated classic. I've already owned it on here for a long time but thank you Epic and GOG.

More people need to experience stepping off that prison ship and into the lush alien world for the first time as the music slowly comes in. Absolute musical frisson!

Literally my only complaint is that the game is a bit too long, it could have been paced better. But it's still an absolute treat and sadly overlooked due to big hitters like Half-Life. If you haven't played it and you enjoy FPS, you have no excuse now!
Thank you GOG and Epic Games!

Also bought Unreal Tournament and Unreal Tournament 2004.
What a nice surprise - thank you GOG and Epic!
Awesome! Good Old Game has never been more appropriate. Thanks GOG and Epic!

Enebias: I'll post it here, too: http://www.unrealtexture.com/Unreal/Website/Downloads/Textures/ExtremeEnd/StockUnreal/UnrealExtremeEnd.htm

Improved textures for Unreal Gold, a fantastic sight to enjoy the orignal, untouched gameplay with much prettier graphics.

Pajama: Is it just the top file (Missing High End files) that needs to be downloaded or do I need all the .utx files too? Page doesn't make it quite clear. Thanks.

EDIT: Mean to say 'Thank you' to GOG too but got carried away with textures... :)
You need everything. They are quite heavy.
If you download just a pack, you'll have only some high definition textures and the others will be standard. A punch in the eye! XD
Damn fine game, but the real star of the Unreal series is Unreal Tournament 99. Used to have loads of fun with it on my uncle's pc.
Cool, thanks.
