Believe dat.

It's been 20 years since we crash-landed on a planet full of ugly aliens, snazzy guns, and conveniently places power-ups. Today we're going back for a nostalgic trip FREE of charge!

Together with Epic Games, we are celebrating this anniversary with a 48h giveaway of Unreal Gold, the hallmark FPS that expanded the shooter genre with open areas, sweet weapon upgrades and, well, unreal lighting effects.

Grab it for FREE through our front page banner until May 24, 5pm UTC. If you already own the game, you will receive a code for a friend (needs to be redeemed before June 7th, 10pm UTC).

Then make sure to grab the rest of the Unreal series at 80% off until May 29, 5pm UTC.
Thank you :)
Here is remixes of Cannonade and Mech 8 from the original Unreal Tournament soundtrack:

Already got it, but thanks anyway GOG and Epic -- this is great for people who don't.

Unreal was a fantastic game, and I'm surprised at how it still looks pretty good even after twenty years -- especially compared to other 3D shooters of the era.

tinyE: The two Tournament ones are pretty much MP? Correct?
Yes, but they have full bot support for every map and game mode, and the bots are actually really good. The Unreal Tournament games are more than serviceable as single player experiences so long as you're not expecting any sort of story mode.

This day could only get better if I can put my steelbok edition of UT 3 (man that one was expensive!) into the archives and finally get it digitally on GOG :-)

Yup, but they also have bots. IMO, they still have some of the best (if not best) bot AI in any FPS, although in '04 they can't drive for shit, which is probably due to the fact that vehicles were added on after the fact. In any case, I think I've played them as much solo as I did online. Good times.

Still good fun for playing on occasion. ;)

Meh, thanks, but I'll pass.

I do have all the others in the series and I encourage anyone and everyone who doesn't to snag those. MP or SP, their reputation of quality is richly deserved.
20 years old?
Time is so fast. Thank you Epic & GoG :)

You ought to at least give Unreal Gold's MP a try with bots. They were already good in that one. UT '99 is really just an extension of that with more maps, modes, and features.

Since I own it, I will. :D

Thanks
This is the game that finally made me realize that I was so focused on beginnings and endings in my teenage years that I had never actually played through it and most of my games, always cheating to see the ending.

So I took a trip to Na Pali for the whole duration and it was glorious. :D

Curiously, with this gift, only the original UT is left for me to own all of them digitally.

(I do own a CD copy of the Original UT, mind you)

tfishell: LGR literally just did a retrospective a day ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZjS6rLKnU0c
Yeah, I watched that yesterday so was funny to see the sale here on GOG today. LTGs video certainly put me in the mood for some Unreal that's for sure :)

Kunovski: I like you, GOG... you're really cool :) wanna hang out? ;)
Hm, now we have Visual Novels for this :-P
Thanks you GOG and Epic Games! :)
20 years? Wow. I still remember when I got the original boxed version (which I still have.) I also remember my dad going crazy that they have shiny floors! lol

Well happy 20th Unreal!

Also I remember when we got Na Pali (expansion) we had to take it back as it didnt work. I never did finish that.

Its a shame they never did anymore SP Unreal (other than 1+Expansion and 2.)

The Unreal Gold bots were insane. I think they were actually more challenging than the Unreal Tournament bots.
