Links update, as the old ones are broken after forums overhaul:

EDIT: Nice, apparently there is now maximum post length set, so I cannot update the list anymore ><

Good job Thiev...I'm just getting all my games + all possible covers, so I got the entire collection on my HD too :)
Adding temporary Baldur's Gate cover.

I've lost all templates and covers due to subsequent HDD failures, so I cannot make a proper one, but I'm certain that sooner or later Stuff will ;)

Now I only need to split the list somehow... ><

Hey, that one looks great !

I have all my templates and covers and a directory with all covers besides mine. If you want I can upload one. I had considered the thought of losing all of our covers some time ago so I backed them up . . . =)

Are the links to the existing templates broken?

Was done purely for fun though ;)
Cover links aren't broken, just those that point to forum posts/topics. Firek explained the change here.
As for templates I will remember your offer, but right now I need to figure out WTH is wrong with my PC. It crashes too frequently for my taste ><.

Still, I would leave it, looks good.

I opened the old DVD template I have and it looks like I had update it to 300 dpi. Not sure what it was before but I believe it was a lower res. I use my existing cover psd's for templates now. I will be happy to post a link to either or both. Wondered if we should start updating covers to reflect the 150 Win 7 supported games. Lots of work, that.

Hope you get your computer fixed, always look forward to your covers.
EDIT: nevermind; the list will be moved to a new topic anyway.

True, but on the other hand I was thinking about new template anyway.

With higher than original res [1890x1260 now] getting good quality cover images is a pain. We could use a template with centered image in the middle. Also, I don't think that listing extras on the back is a good idea - simply because it is subject to change.

The new 'what's cool' feature could replace overviews we usually copy. Game descriptions vary in length, while 'cool' features are always listed in threes.

To better visualise it: I was thinking of layout akin to this.

It is just a layout concept really. Grey covers we have now are probably easier to print. But I want your opinion anyway - should we try to work on something new? :)

Sounds good, new site, new covers

My covers are currently 300 pixels per inch at 1890 x 1260. I believe they just came out that size when I scaled it up to 300 pixels per inch

I especially agree with this, finding usable cover images is 80% of the work

This works for me. I thought maybe a community thread asking for input from the members concerning what they want to see on the covers. Most don't use them but those that do might have some good ideas.

Edit: Would you want to update existing covers to the new format?

Also, folks that are using these covers may want to keep the spine art the same just for consistency rather than reprinting their existing covers.

Why not, if only to keep them in the same resolution.
Thread would be nice, but I'm afraid it would be quickly lost. Unless we'd offer a chance to win a free GOG to keep ideas coming :P

Edit: List is now here: http://www.gog.com/en/forum/general/unofficial_dvd_covers_list . I moved it for easier updating with new forum 'features' ==

Well, once the format is set, I'm willing to update the existing covers. I am short on time nowadays and usually can't get to them till the week end. I was trying to add a few to our list on occasion just to get a copy of all covers in one list, sorta stopped doing that some months back.
You're probably right about not getting input without a reward. I also added to my previous post that some folks may want the center spines to stay the same for consistency - would keep a collection looking the same on the shelf.

I had found it and bookmarked it as a favorite. Does it include Reds??

Right. If you're willing to start such thread, I can afford a GOG to give away :P

You have found it, but did you read it? :) See #1

My bad, did not read it, just marked it. I would assume we would need to remake those with any format changes since getting a single, consistent formatted list would be a good thing.

Would be difficult to pick a "winner" of such a contest since we are just asking for input . . . unless you want "formatted" examples to be submitted. You would need to select a winner, in any case, since you would be giving away the game and you are also one of the first to submit and maintain the list. I have always felt I was the newcomer as far as submitting covers is concerned . . . =)
