Atlantico: A funny story, the lieutenant governor of California was beating his chest over the amazing achievement that California was doing their part in taking in Syrian refugees, 10% of all Syrian refugees coming into the US. When asked how many exactly, he replied 282 people.
In my country we are going to take 10 times what California is taking, with our population of 220 thousand. California has 38.8 million people and is part of the country that is causing the Syrian refugee crisis.
Ignorance is bliss or something like that, that is why I think we should be kinda careful with what Americans ask us to do, they don't always have the clearer view of the matters at hand, especially when things so far from their lands happen. I also find hilarious how we Euros have been asked to take about 30 Million of a country of 18 Million. Hey we have to also take all those "Syrian refugees" from Afghanistan and Iraq apparently (still wondering how many "Syrian refugees" are the other Sunni countries taking btw, I know Jordan is taking some and Saudi Arabia had taken a couple they were using as slave lab...I mean, happy totally free workers, but haven't heard of anybody else)
Sufyan: Skimmed through the thread.
1. Bunch of uninformed hipsters on a UN bashing spree. Let's time travel to somewhere around 1996-2003 and snark about how incompetent Bill Gates is while we're at it. Shallow insubstantial ranting.
UN bashing is OK. It's kinda like laughing at the retarded kid at the classroom but it is OK from time to time.
Sufyan: 2. Everyone who used words like wahabbism or sharia is a fucking idiot. There, I emphasised with the F-word. You have no idea what those words mean either in spirit or in practice. You do understand that militant islamism is born from opposition to Saudi law and leadership? Al-qaeda and Daesh (ISIL) are anti-Saudi, which is why they dream of a new theological utopia and attract every scumbag they can find to do the dirty ground work terrorising and robbing whole populations. Saudi Arabia may have been founded on the ideas laid out by Wahab, but much has happened since. Saudi law is just that, Saudi law. It is not a straight adaptation of the Qur'an and much of it is not rooted in religion. A lot of the problems come from a very poorly structured government and infrastructure.
They are so anti Saudi they are not touching their frontiers...So anti-Saudi they are killing Europeans, Americans and, people who happen to align themselves with Iran (their enemies)
They do a very very very bad job at this being Anti Saudi don't they?
Sufyan: Law making is a mess, some ground rules were laid in the 30's when the country was still tribal and they just don't work for the growth we have today. The decisions a government has to make today are not something a few old men can decide in a couple of town meetings, they require research and second opinions. Saudi Arabia is a country with little regard for workers rights and women's rights because decisions are clubbed hastily by non-experts or old men with their heads in the sand. Why ban women from driving? Well it is an easy but very blunt tool to avoid having to deal with other potential problems that can crop up if women are alone outside the home.
Writing laws for men like myself? Sure, thats easy, I know my limits. Women? I dunno, wouldn't it be easier if we restricted them from everything that could go wrong? Lock them in their homes, that will take care of most eventualities! Let me do a little rewording:
"Writing laws for
Aryans like myself? Sure, thats easy, I know my limits.
Jews? I dunno, wouldn't it be easier if we restricted them from everything that could go wrong? Lock them in
Camps under our supervision, that will take care of most eventualities"
Sorry to make a Godwin here, but hope you get why your argument is bullshit. Unfathomability is not an excuse, hell they should know women better than we do, don't they have four wives for every man? that's three more subjects of study than every man that is not a Mormon.
Sufyan: Reality is though, Saudi people are as human as anyone else and they break the law all the time. They have progressive and realistic thinking activists making slow progress. They have violent criminals that commit robberies and rape despite the threat of capital or corporal punishment. Hell, kids are still drifting in traffic even after a law was passed that any driver that causes a fatal accident while drifting is to be beheaded.
Nobody said they are not. Nobody denies Pol Pot is human, but you won't find many people saying that being biologically human excludes him from being a bloodthirsty monster. Same case here. And no, the fact that most Arabs are, according to you, criminals with no regard to justice or law
doesn't make it any bit better. If anything I can perfectly say that if they don't respect their own country's laws, nothing says they would respect my country's laws, so, what are we waiting to blacklist them and forbid them to travel to Europe?
Sufyan: Still, western media only pick up on outlier cases where the application of law goes wrong or leads to stupid or deplorable sentences (such as rape victims being charged with admitting adultery while the suspect is cleared of charges). Also, people on the internet with violent fetishes rant about shit they don't understand or from their own violent fantasies about certain ethnicities or religions help contribute to the disinformation.
Thing is, here in the
normal part of the World, we don't have a need to subscribe for laws calling to maim and amputate limbs of other people for committing crimes, nor do we call for Crucifixion of them either. We don't need to write laws saying that women who commit adultery have to be stoned to death...that kind of thing. We are not outraged about Saudi Arabia's doing that stuff, we are outraged at them considering this normal and a perfect legal system. We also don't have a need to ban Snowmen because they are "lustful"...seriously when your country laws make less sense than the ones of North Korea, you know you should not be legislating anything.
Sufyan: Appointing a Saudi national this title is to throw the nation a hot potato. Here, deal with it. It is not like the issue needs to be raised in countries with already functional laws.
And yet the UN has a huge tendency to get itself in countries with already functional laws. Thankfully nobody with a bit of sense pays heed to them anymore, and with very very very good reason I might add. Also while we are at it, the Yugoslavian Wars were a huge bloody error.
