markrichardb: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4K9srgUBjgIain: You have the whole Tea drinking thing which to be honest isn't as popular as it used to be, you also have the Fish & Chips thing but to be honest the traditional style Chippies are a dying breed, there is one in the next town over that just does the tradiotional stuff associated but most now do a full compliment of pizza and kebab etc with traditional chip shop stuff an afterthought.
markrichardb: Aye, many traditional chippies have been replaced by kebab houses. Visiting the chip shop is deeply rooted in my fond childhood memories. Fortunately there’s a good one in my area.
At Teeside you have the Barnacles resteraunt, it also has take out and they were always good, there is a little one that used to be a house on a corner up at Stanley in County Durham but they aren't open to late and its a bit of a trek from Chester Le Street to there just for proper fish & chips.
There are a few others but they sold ooout doing the whole pizza shop thing now and the quality went downhill on their original stuff
