Ahh, that's good to know. I don't care one iota about graphical fidelity, but I feel that the visual style can do a lot to add/detract from a game, especially one like this that's so focused on creating an interesting world.

That's the problem with prototypes -- it looks nothing like the final game. They are now using unity assets, but for the final game they are making their own.

I voted Fungi dude. The mushroom dude is kind of generic but nice. Fungi dude is more eerie and mysterious. Maybe they could keep both.

They both have their upsides -- mushroom man has a nice recognisable silhouette, but fun guy looks less generic. I went with fun guy, because the mushroom dude was a bit too cartoony.

They've hit the half-way mark.

I'm optimistic that they'll reach the base target, but it's not at all clear that they'll exceed it significantly.

This should have been one of those campaigns where they were fully-funded within hours!

Underworld was completely and utterly revolutionary, and Looking Glass went on to create some of the most incredible games ever made. I wish gamers were throwing their money behind this project the way that they've done for some of the other legends of old. Losing Looking Glass was nothing less than a tragedy for gaming, so if this is a chance to bring them back in some form... well, gamers should be behind this in full force.

Underworld. System Shock. Thief. These are legendary titles*, and a legacy deserving of our support if there's a chance of adding another genre classic to the ranks.

* amongst some other also-incredible but lesser-known names.

They're two-thirds of the way to the base goal.

Still looking very promising for the $600,000, and still looking completely up in the air regarding which stretch goals they might meet.

I want the lizard men and the mod tools, damn it.

Update 7 makes good reading, if you're still a bit unsure of what this is all about!

The prototype footage still makes me worried that people will imagine the final product will look like that. I wish they were a bit clearer in all of their videos that they're not thinking too much about graphics until much further down the track, and the final game won't look much like what they're currently showing.

So how does voting work in Greenlight?

I can see a question "Would you buy this game if it were available in Steam?", which I am interpreting as "Would you buy this game from Steam if it were available in Steam?", to which my answer would be "Hell no", despite the fact that I am definitely buying this game (regardless of whether it is available in Steam, but definitely not from Steam)*.

I guess I have to click "Yes" to vote for it?

* Well, I've already backed it for a DRM-free copy, but if I hadn't then the above would apply.

Greenlight has nothing to do with whether or not a game gets made, just whether it gets sold on Steam. I guess a failed Greenlight campaign for a still-in-progress title might prompt the developers to give up on it, but I doubt that would apply in this case. So a Yes vote pretty much just means "I would consider buying this game from Steam", not "I want this game to happen"

I already backed it too and I wouldn't buy it from steam either.
I suggested voting for it in order to help bring it to the top of popularity lists and potentially bring some more backers to Kickstarter.

Where are all the Ultima Underworld fans?

Otherside Entertainment contains mainly of people who were responsible for some of the best Good Old Games there are. Like Ultima Underworld, Thief or System Shock.
