Telika: These forums have few users that actually start varied and interesting discussions about gaming itself. And oh noes, the form, the phrasing, doesn't suit people ? So derep it just like -if not more than- the spam or political propaganda that infest(ed) the forums ?
There's also too few users to continue such discussions. A related issue is that there isn't enough activity on most of the sub-forums; I would really like to discuss the early TES games (for example), but there's nobody there to discuss it with! I get all excited to see that there's a new post, only to be disappointed when it turns out to be a technical issue with, for example, the game refusing to start.
(Also, a few sub-forums seem to have people who seem to be actively opposed to certain discussions about the game.)

Honest answer: This is not the first place I would be coming to start a non gaming discussion.

Very well, but for the record, I belive that being legible should be a rule. Like, the most basic, Law One kind of rule of every forum.

I post that for discussion, not pointing at anyone.
Of course being on a gaming forum, it;s kind of expected when folks first post here.
And, yes, sometimes my moms are worse.

Remember those old surrealist stop-motion films? I think it could be pretty wild with a game inspired by that!

It is, it just takes some effort. Intrigued... where would you go? I'm really curious, because a nice place to discuss "life, the universe and all the rest" would probably be a place for me too.

What about the rule to try to post in General Discussion in the appropriate language, is it now out of the window?

PixelBoy: GENERAL RULES: Use appropriate language.
WE DON’T TOLERATE:
Use of language that is abusive, vulgar, hateful, defamatory, obscene, profane, threatening, privacy-invasive, or law-violating.
Perhaps you should update your rules then.
That kind of typing is not appropriate language as it is violating all grammar and spelling rules on purpose (everyone makes mistakes unintentionally, but it's a stretch to claim that it's all just a series of unintentional typos...), also it can be debated whether that kind of language is abusive or not.
I also challenge to think this: if everyone posted like Fairfox does, and it should be allowed if it's a
llowed for one person, then how would that affect the quality of the conversation here?
I have been to several forums where users have been banned for less.
If you can point out an example of this I'd take it into consideration. As long as a topic is clear, even if the writing takes a second read, there are no issues. If I started dishing out punishments for poor typing, we'd be I a never-ending cycle of bans.
As for 'other' forums, they have their rules on their sites, as we have rules on this site.
I hope this clears things up.

Linko90: Are you genuinely trying to frame Fairfox's posts as 'abusive, vulgar, hateful, defamatory, obscene, profane, threatening, privacy-invasive, or law-violating'?
If you can point out an example of this I'd take it into consideration.
Abusive language does not necessarily mean personal attacks or swear words. If other people are trying their best to follow the grammar and spelling rules, and someone else is trying to break those rules on purpose, I would indeed define that as abusive. If you can point out an example of this I'd take it into consideration.

I think it's very obvious to see when typos are unintentional, caused by someone using language other than their native language, hitting a key next to right one, or simply doing it all on purpose. These days there are even autocorrecting tools to help, if someone is for instance dyslexic or something like that. I really see there's no other reason to use such spelling than to annoy other users on purpose. It might be a joke once or twice, but doing it non-stop can't be an innocent mistake. Linko90: As for 'other' forums, they have their rules on their sites, as we have rules on this site.
I hope this clears things up.
For now, for us having seen the thread, maybe, but I would strongly suggest that you define proper language better in your forum rules. I hope this clears things up.
For instance, "Use appropriate language; use of capital letters, and punctuation marks is not required, leetspeek is allowed."

Beh. Normativity is its own reward. The joy of pointing at something and designating it as unbearably inconvenient or inacceptably out of place. Sometimes it's tinye's nonserious offtopic posts ("derailing threads" and "ruining the forums" or whatnot), other times it's fairfox's playful writing style ("being hard work" and "making the forums unreadable" or whatnot), else it will be the coworker with the blatantly wrong socks colours or haircut or mannerism, whatever. As long as it provides some handy anomaly by which to feel rightfully irritated. It's not about drawing a line, it's about ensuring that the lines keep keeping something out to turn into a major obsessive issue. "Ah if only this was solved", until next scandalously troublesome inhomogeneity. We'll always find some oddity to rationalize as blatantly inacceptable.
What would we do, if we were alone? Cut off our unbearably asymetrical limbs, I suppose.
