Themken: No, I think I know what is going on after searching a bit. Support is being overloaded on purpose.
I don't think it is on purpose, honestly, I think it is because they don't want to hire and pay enough support people for a company of their size and customer base. The whole Covid-19 thing is just not a valid excuse for how bad customer assistance is right now. They obviously don't take customer care very seriously or it wouldn't be as bad as it is right now. They are a huge corporation these days, they can afford to hire and pay qualified support people. It wouldn't even make a dent in their bottom line. But here we are, customers like me, who have been waiting fruitlessly for a response for so long that we are considering just moving entirely over to another company and not looking back -- and I have been a GOG customer for a long time. It is unfortunate really.
EDIT: I felt it was only fair to update this post to say that although I have never gotten a response from customer support the issue has apparently, after a week, resolved itself so that I can purchase games again. I stand by my opinion that GOG has terrible support and that they need to seriously consider investing in qualified people to resolve issues, because it is angering people and certainly driving them to just make purchases elsewhere (which I would have done if the game had been on sale elsewhere), but I can at least say that something happened, either automatically or intentionally, that fixed my ability to make purchases.
EDIT EDIT: Another 5 days has passed and I just recieved an automated email from them informing me that it could be another 2 WEEKS until I get a response. So whatever happened to fix my issue wasn't them and they won't even know about it for weeks. Just absolutely despicable.
EDIT EDIT EDIT: Another week and still no response regarding my issue. I even updated my ticket to ask for information on the resolution. Nothing. Nada. No response from GOGs help people...After 3 weeks. That, folks, is what you can expect if you do business with GOG.
