This may be in the wrong area, my apologies if so, but I need some help.

I am trying to buy the Witcher 3 expansion packs and when I go to my checkout, I cannot click "complete order" I figured why not try adding wallet funds.. well same issue there... anyone out there know why this is happening?

Hello. In order to buy Witcher 3's expansion packs, you'll need to own the base game here, otherwise you won't be able to complete your order.

Might be able to buy the expansions as a gift, but they can't be redeemed unless the redeemer also has the base game, making it kinda moot.

Curiously i got the 'free DLC' they had without requiring the base game... And it's in my library, though i can't access it.

I have the actual game already installed... I just want this part of it as well.

Also I tried the gift thing, and it said my account isnt able or what ever the message was.

You must have the game on the very same account here on GOG, legally.

Well, according to your account, you only have two games in total, of which one is "The Witcher 1", which you played three months ago for a whopping total of one hour...

Are you sure, you have "The Witcher 3" also? And on this account?

Mere installation is not enough; you need to have Witcher 3 on your account. If you installed the disc version, you'll need to redeem the included GOG code.

That's because you need to make a $10 purchase from the store and wait for 3 months before you can make a gift order.

Seriously? I know they were trying to cut down on scammers and resellers, but that seems pretty steep... So glad I got in before they made that batshit rule. I'd have probably left since my second purchase was a gift purchase for a friend.

And curiously, why does no one see this as a form of DRM? They won't even let you buy the DLC unless you own the base game, even in cases like OST that don't require the game to access..

It apparently became bad enough during the year of Witcher 3's release that they temporarily disabled gifting completely for certain games (without any official word beforehands, of course) before enacting more permanent measures.

This is my only account. Yeh I wasnt into the controls on Witcher 1 so I jumped into 2 on xbox.

As far as W3 goes I bought it via GOG app, not via disc.

I no longer have xbox access which is why I am trying again via computer to get the game..
(i beat 2 via xbox as well btw)

When you go to the checkout, do you get a message that says that you are required to own Witcher 3 even though you do own it? Like this example?
https://www.gog.com/upload/forum/2019/11/2573d367fb275cfde627e6f14f7243b627d8978f.jpg

If that is the case, then you should contact support:
https://support.gog.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?form=orders

Select "other order-related issues" as the problem type and fill the rest of the fields with as much info as possible.

The "timed clicking combat" in TW1 was an initial turnoff for me, too.
I think, I unsuccessfully tried two to three times to get into the game, but shortly after the tutorial I always quit.
It was only when TW2 was about to be released, that I tried it anew - and this time I kept playing it, despite the unusual combat scheme.
Honestly - once you get used to the "timed clicking", the difference between "single enemy" and "group of enemies" attacks, and the restricted usability of the two different swords (iron for human foes only - silver for non-human foes only), you'll very likely end up loving the game.
You should give it another try some time.

In addition to what Gragar posted above, if you bought TW3 here on GOG, you should have a receipt in your account.

Hover over [your account] (=metal.zelda) in the top bar --> click on [Privacy & Settings] --> look at [Orders History]

There you should find your receipt for TW3 (showing the Order#, the date of purchase and the price you paid)

With that you can always make your claim towards GOG's support center.

So, OP already owns the GOTY edition (and not the standard one).

Well,...that explains that. ;)
