I just turned on my TV and I am curently seeing live footage from the Maidan District (I hope I wrote it right) and I don't see this coming to an end very soon :/ The problem is that over 50 people died already and the government is doing little to nothing to stop this in a peaceful way.

It seems all everyone can do is wait and see. I really hope this ends well and without many lost lives.

I cannot sign this. Yes, the public opinion here in germany is distinctly pro opposition, but apart from some threats for economic sanctions whos success didn't show so far (no surprise I would say) our government did nothing. The media is also quite free, you can choose the sources you get your information from. It should be not so difficult to form your own opinion.

Maybe I'm just biased by propaganda but the main complaint seems to be the current government of the Ukraine is totally corrupt and therefore somebody else has to take over. Somebody who is not so corrupt. So they have thrown their former president into prison, the current one should follow immediately to court and prison. But that's only a dream as we all know. It won't happen.

I personally would advice free and open elections after immediate retirement of the current president.

It's a nightmare now and more people will die and all most of us can do is just watch it.


I can tell you a bit from ukrainian friends that live here that they are reluctant to speak about it because it is such a nasty situation and feels so awkward. It's a lose-lose situation.

For starters their ex-president is not in jail and never has been. What were you saying about german media again?

Sorry I meant prime minister. I was only quoting from my memory which is known to be not the best one. Media is usually quite good in getting the titles right.

For Ukraine riots, I can't really say who is wrong and who is right. I just hope it doesn't become a "Russia vs EU" thing on a global level. As long as neither side is sending military aid to Ukraine...

Russia is a "better" economic ally, as in, the EU deal is utter shit and shouldn't be accepted under any circumstances. But Yanukovich is a really shit president and should be ousted and replaced with someone more sensible - obviously, not the Nazis and not Mutti's euro-babby. Nuland is right. Fuck the EU.

I've always found such political oxymora fascinating. It's almost like they've never actually read "Mein Kampf" or the rest of Hitler's writings/statements. If they had, they would have found out that Hitler had the most "wonderful" thoughts on Russians and Slavic people in general.

Are you really think that returning to pre-2004 constitution with semi-presidential republic making Ukraine to Belarus? I am terrified when thinking about bloody presidential dictatorship in US.
