As for music I thought since we are on GOG some game music would probably be the best fit.

It's practically a crime against good taste that GOG doesn't sell soundtracks from the Falcom Sound Team who are responsible for the music in the Ys and Trails series. The way they manage to combine classical instruments like a violin, a piano or a chorus with modern ones like synthesizer and electric guitar and make it sound great never ceases to amaze me.

My music recommendation: "To Become the Foundation of an Era" from the Trails of Cold Steel Soundtrack. Crank up the volume a bit, close your eyes and listen to the song from start to finish. I'd be surprised if the violin doesn't drive a tear or two into your eyes.
