You can now get subscriber emoticons, chat icons and more - all for charity!

We’ve had a blast on Twitch.tv/GOGcom, showing off games and engaging in streaming marathons, multiplayer tournaments and - as of late - a podcast. It has brought quite the community together with over 27 thousand followers and 1.7 million views, so the time has come for the next step.

Many of our regular viewers have asked why we’re not a Twitch Partner yet. Starting today, we are proud members of the Twitch Partner Program, a selection of the network’s quality streaming channels! This will allow us to grow even further, reach new viewers, and help a good cause. Should you choose to subscribe, your monthly $5 can get you access to subscriber-only features:

-- Access to subscriber-only emoticons,
-- A subscriber-only icon next to your name on chat,
-- Supporting a good cause.

If we could provide this all to you free of charge, we would - but since we can’t, we’re doing the next best thing. We are using this opportunity to help a gamer-focused charity - 100% of our share of the proceeds (sans tax) will go to <span class="bold">The AbleGamers Foundation</span>.

“We are thrilled to begin our new partnership with GOG,” said Steve Spohn, Chief Operations Officer of AbleGamers Charity. “Our mission to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities through the power of video games aligns perfectly with GOG’s desire to bring the community together through awesome games.”

Stop feeding the trolls. Clearly some people just want bad things, posting dark stuff without any purpose. Someone said curse word on stream? OMG. End of the world. Someone told a racist joke? Please... since when countries are races?

I am sorry that some of you feel neglected, unhappy or somehow otherwise negatively affected by the fact that GOG's twitch channel has been partnered. I barely can understand why that would happen, but be it, I just feel sorry for you.

Also, this is not a church, place of religion, school nor other place where curse words are banned and forbidden. We try not to use them, chat tries not to use them, but hey, sometimes shit happens. It's your choice to be in the same room.

Well said.

I am honestly getting the feeling that the people calling "oh noes, racism" were just some crazies offended by literally anything and are trying to stir up shit by making things up because they don't like this or that person (has been happening way to often by these politically-correct nutcases) and hope to get them removed without any prove or rel reason because "Muh Feelings"...

Glad that the StreamTeam actually relies on facts rather than hear-say to make decisions. Definitively deserves respect.

And frankly, compared to most chats on Twitch, it's actually quite a nice and civil place. Makes you really question these people who see "offensive things" literally everywhere, except when it comes to themselves (despite in 99% of the cases being themselves the most shitty people you can find anywhere on the Interwebs)

So true!
Streamers use the !waffle command, enough irc logs to back that up

The quality options have always been there since I've been watching, so that's no benefit.

That most of the people are happy with the partnership is not what I've gathered checking in the channels surrounding gogcom....

About the streamers not being in chat: with some streamers it feels like total biscuit's or quill's streams, just doing their stream and off they go, not seeing them till they have to stream again. Like work, not like a hobby.

Help us understand and tell us the reason behind this? The fact gathering, the blame for partnership, blaming streamers not being in the chat?

As someone said, it's a hobby, it's hard to always be in the chat.
Of course streamers occasionally use the raffle command when they are not streaming themselves. I'm a big Vlad fan and I did not sign a gag order when I offered my free time to the channel. So I feel no obligation to not occasionally point out that if people *really* want a better webcam for his streams they could donate towards it.

I most certainly will not stop being a fan and having opinions. If that was part of the package I would simply stop streaming.

It's exactly the opposite. If you make a living off this you have to interact with your fans. It's precisely the fact that most of us have a (sometimes full) life outside of Twitch that forces us to occasionally spend less time on the channel than we would like.

I mean Arven is a tenured professor and published author. I am still amazed that we were even able to get him in here, let alone having him in chat occasionally. I can't even imagine what would lead one to complain about him not being here more outside of his streams.

1.it helps benefit with higher bandwidth and 2.streamers not being in chat it becomes work if they have to be in the channel all the times, I see them pop in once in a while in chat but some also stream on there own chennals Example TheWeekendSlice, Outstar, Arvan, Chronowolf and few others. It would be like them playing a game while watching there channel and gog channel.
And for the record, we do have better quality after sub button got activated.
We had quality settings forever, so just compare the past UT championships to the fresh one. Mat streams on the same settings and it looks way better.
I see a high improvement in my VODs too. I believe there are three tiers of bandwith given by Twitch, the top tier being given to subbed partners (or rather to channels like RiotGames, then partners, so - an additional tier).

So, you're saying 'Australian' isn't a race? Psssh. Next you'll be telling me that hating squirrels isn't a type of sexism. </s>
