Thank goodness we own our games...

Even if we didn't own our games, I still doubt any party but EA would be daft enough to pull a stunt like this.

This just pushed me closer to GOG. Thanks, EA.

Well, if you broke the NDA you signed through a job, you would lose your job. I dont see this being any different than security cameras catching you out in such a situation.

In other words: the person who did this should have expected it (not saying its right).

You are right about that, the issue here is the terrible NDA that allows EA to F their customers without lube. Sure they are allowed to have that NDA, but people should call them out on their anti-consumer bullshit.

The more sensible thing to do would be to fine the person who breaks the NDA or somethign among those lines, not hold the game library hostage.

or you can abide by the NDA and not lose your crap - or just not get games in an early access state with NDAs attached in the first place.

of course, if they dont have an NDA warning on the store page regarding all this (and detailing it) at the point of "sale" (ive no idea if this is a freebie or not, so using the term sale), then its not only anti consumer, but also illegal in some countries.

Edit: having said that though, an NDA (or any legal contract) is only really legally binding if signed in person by both parties and witnessed. so id reckon in this case (depending on where the streamer is from) theres possibly good grounds to take EA to court.

The Origin Client crashed. Can EA remotely crash the client? Seems fake to me. ^:)
I don't think he had anything in that library.
I don't really see how this is newsworthy or even footnote worthy.

I also have to question the legitimacy of this claimed ban.

Edit: As suspected, this user did set this up. Others haven't.

I took for granted that he/she had some games on the account beforehand. If the person lost anything at all, it might just have been the alpha privileges for breaking the NDA.

Sure made me look stupid for being prejudiced against EA.

But if we suppose that this is true for the sake of argument - would it surprise anyone? These are queer times, it happens from time to time that reality smacks parody on the fingers when it comes to absurdity.

Free attention and promotion for the streamer, so very worthy... for him/her. ^:)

Indeed. Try and rope a bunch of suckers to giving them pity games, which likely will result in an actual ban or worse, if they were actually in violation.
If this picks up speed, the lawyers of EA will be busy. The streamer might get more attention on the plate than he can chew.

Whilst I can understand NDA's for something sensitive such as a patent for a new pharmaceutical drug or defense technology to prevent corporate espionage / national security leaks, it does look incredibly lame when what the "NDA" is protecting for game studios is basically free advertising / publicity for the same recycled gameplay we've all already seen before...

im not stating otherwise. just the technicalities of an NDA - though if you see my later post, theres something else of note as well.
Goddamn that's a harsh punishment.
