A couple of days ago, I made a comment about how TW WH 3 would at least need a 3060 RTX nvdia branded card to be able to hit 60 fps on 1080p, and it seems I was far off with that 'prediction'. The guys from DSO Gaming decided to turn their benchmarked eyes towards the game. A long story short. 2080Ti's and 3080's!!!! Ladies and Gentlemen, for sustained 60 fps on 1080p ultra quality settings.

How worse is that? Hereby I want to apologize for painting such an inaccurate story.

And to add to the content of the article

I would recommend at least a i7 for mortal empires content when released.

yeah , but if it runs crappy it is not fun to play , at least for me
and they shouldnt get money for a badly optimized game
If they remove denuvo it will probably run on a 1080. It’s strange though, you would think that with the major chip shortage they would want a wider band of customers, but maybe it just is laziness. Why bother optimising when you can just push requirements up.

In the screenshot forum post i made some descriptions about how i am able to run the game on my 2060 in 2k in fairly decent quality. Basically i enabled image enhancement (20%) and unlocked one of the DSR ratio's. Weirdly enough this combination enabled a resolution of 1969 by 1108 if i'm not mistaken, such an odd number right, and here i can run the game pretty well. I also did change from integer scaling to aspect ratio scaling, to get the full screen size and of course the in game options.
CA's year long joke is that they have a fairly extensive options settings menu, with descriptions of what each setting affects, but they lie about the setting that has one of the biggest impacts on the campaign map. Terrain Quality. Trust me, you want this to be low, if you have a poor man's card that is.
FPS set on 41 which creates almost artifact free scrolling, oh and FXAA since TAA combines very bad with Widening and Sharpening of the image, blurred as it is already.
This results in an image which actually i prefer over what the previous 2 game brought so yea, and with the battles running quite allright i'm pretty fine.

Total War game launches have a tendency of discriminating either large groups of players (everyone) but indeed, as nightcrwler says. This is scaring away a large portion of your playerbase. Even i had a little stutter with a combination of actions at a certain point. I'm sure a fair amount of current crash behaviour has something to do with ignoring the fact that your gpu is stressed to max for prolonged periods of time

Aren't Prices inflated right now for new PC parts like Graphics Cards because Crypto bros are buying them all for Crypto Currency Mining?

yes, and of course the shortages due to a resource/logistics/raised demand etc. It is pretty ludicrous to release a game expecting your players to at least spend around 1200 euro's if they want to enjoy the game on a stable fps in 1080p, with reasonable par expectancy 2022 graphics quality

It’s inflated across the chip market for a number of reasons. Criminal gangs using it to mine criminal coin is just one. There are chip shortages, and everything now comes as “smart” which means more chips needed. Scalpers selling tech on eBay s another one (just look at steam deck preorders going for >£1000), this creates a false market of shortages.
Unfortunately heavy reliance on chips for even the most minor of tasks now will only continue to get worse, I mean what minded person can now switch off a light without it being Bluetoothed from their “smart”phone to a computer on the wall?

One that happens to own a light switch that is smarter than them...

it's bad but not so bad the Mr Zimerius picture it.

I have a 2060 Super and running the game on 2K at 60FPS
i do think CA blundered by not introducing the game with FSR it would have been a easy fps boost

Well, that would surprise me, maybe on the lowest of settings. My 2060super is not able to sustain 60 fps on 2k, and especially those mountains. Not to mention the constant 200 watt draw, i have the aorus 260super btw.

With that said, i'm perfectly fine with upscaling the image atm. The only thing that becomes a bit blurry are the units in tactical on max zoom level

also, i'm not picturing an image, here i'm relying on real world tests done by a magazine and my own experience

Just gave it a little try, while knowing what would happen and... for about 30 secs i managed to maintain around 60 fps, on 2k lowest settings.

The gpu was drawing between 175 and 225 watts, this is a 175W card btw mind you. As soon as temperatures hit 70 degrees fps dropped towards 55. I can imagine someone with a custom waterloop to be able to stay stable on 60 fps for a longer amount of time.

If you, Abishia, have used different solutions/settings i would kindly invite you to share those with us. On the forum for example, another person claimed to be able to play the game without any stutter on a 1440p resolution, high settings, with a 1060 6 gb by enforcing powerdraw limits on both cpu and gpu.
