I'm the game dev that is creating DreadStar: The Quest for Revenge, a 2D Pixel Art shoot'em'up with RPG elements set to release Oct. 20th on steam.
It is partly inspired by classics like Tyrian, Xenon 2, Truxton, Raiden, Donpachi...
And has an art style reminiscent of the 16bit era of consoles (Snes, Megadrive) and computers (Amiga, Atari).

As such, i would like to have it available on GOG as i feel it would be right where it belongs.And i'm a big supporter of DRM-free gaming.

No not yet, i'm really trying to create traction first, i hear gog rejects a ton of games so i'd rather have every chance i can.

The game was made in Actionscript 3 from scratch (i basically created everything myself including the level editor which i'd like to make public with an option to run a custom level at some point in the future). The libs include a wrapper for the steam API and one for better controllers support. I know AS3 isn't the best language but when i started the initial prototype i intended a way different thing than what it became sooo it would have taken me way too much work to redo everything in C++ or some other language.

After seeing the screenshots and video on STEAM, it does look to use some of the design decisions I loved from Tyrian. Such as buying armor, which would mean you can take more than a hit before you die, and also buying weapons, which you can levelup. Also there seem to be several ship configurations, which allow various loadouts. The music is a little too 8-bit for my liking, but the Tyrian influences seem to hint at something I might enjoy.

Voted for it to come to GOG, and wishlisted on STEAM. I'll be keeping an eye out for this.

Cool :) that's exactly the idea. I want this game to be a game for both regular shoot'em'up players and people who like to be able to level up and improve their ship and customize in order to be able to beat stages to enjoy!
And the retro vibe is strong in it.

I will if Gog doesn't accept the game. I don't want to divide the community.
But the plan was always steam first then drm-free alternatives because i'm alone and i will need to remove/adapt things like achievements, leaderboards, cloud saves, etc and that's a lot of work for 1 person :)

I do have pages on gamejolt and itch.io though so we'll see how it goes. I think i'll post the demo there as well.
