Is there an adapter that will let me plug a Bose headset into an xbox controller? I'd rather not buy a headset just for that purpose but I will if necessary. Thanks for any input (pun intended).
You need to tell us what kind of connector your headset has.

Still, this seems pretty comprehensive: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/accessories/connect-compatible-headset

I found that by literally googling "xbox one headphone socket". I'm surprised you didn't try something similar, it would have at the very least saved you the two hours between posting this and me replying.

I think it's a 1/4'' plug that needs an adapter to go into the 3.5 mm outlet on the controller.

6.35mm to 3.5mm adaptors definitely exist, although I'm not sure I've ever seen one that supports TRRS, which headsets need to carry the mic signal. If you can't find one, it wouldn't actually be hard to make anyway as there's no clever electronics in such an adaptor, it literally is a socket wired up to a plug.
