"Try Galaxy" with no obvious alternative, leading to a re-install of all the games I have purchased? Before the masochists on here start explaining how to circumvent these issues: - the onus is on GOG to explain clearly and concisely. I won't be buying any more GOG games.

BobGrover: with no obvious alternative
Ummm, I can think of one obvious alternative, NOT USING IT. XD

I've been here five years, have over 800 games, and have never used or even downloaded Galaxy, and I do just fine.

Galaxy initiated a reinstall of all your games? Are you sure it wasn't just updating them? Just wondering - I tried Galaxy three different times and never got it to work right, so I'm curious if there's yet another issue with it.
I agree. Why should Samsung get all the publicity.

Actually, you're just someone who couldn't be bothered to RTFD.

See, GOG Galaxy has a feature to scan games to import them into Galaxy; along with a feature to manually import folders. This process didn't delete any of my saves, I didn't lose any data, and nothing was reinstalled. There is a bit of synchronization between Galaxy and the games, but that's about it.
I will not buy these GOG games, they are scratched.
This side of my scalp has Galaxy on it, and I can feel it tingling. That means it's working!

No one under the age of 30 is going to get that. :P

I've had mixed results with this. In the past it has worked well, but recently it doesn't find the games even with trying to manually point it to the folder the game is installed at. I don't use Galaxy anymore since I downloaded all my game installers and goodies.

It requires a file to basically detect games. That file can be customized to import non-Galaxy games at that.

I'm confused, can someone please explain the problem to me. As far as I can tell, Galaxy has reinstalled every game - why not just stop it, there's a button to stop all downloads. Why has it decided to reinstall all the games now and not before? If you're fed up with Galaxy don't use it, that's why it's called an optional client, the alternative being no client, right?

But so far there is an obvious alternative and we have been clamouring hard for it to be retained: don't use Galaxy. So far it is still optional. I never downloaded it, never installed it and never will. I like my games DRM-free AND client free and I don't need any of that achievements, microtransactions, play statistics and other client based crap.

What? Install games ON MY OWN? Double click on files? Do I look like I can take that sort of exertion? And then play without achievements? But what would boost my fragile ego and tell me how awesome I am for simply playing the game or performing meaningless tasks in it? This is madness!
