reading the details for the new nvidia update... noticing the letters directx 12 ultimate

it was just enough..

who else expects the sun to fall down onto the world ?
You just need to update to the May 2020 Windows 10 version first then the graphics driver and it should work, hopefully not break too badly at least or get stu stu stu stu stu stu stu stu-ck.

i belief i had that one earlier this month, a week ago i guess .. we willl s............................................................................................................. .............................................................................................................. ....................................................................................................
But back to DirectX 12's latest update. I am curious as to what it is. It will probably be in the news tomorrow.

Fans spin up to Warp speed and Computer Locks up with annoying noises!
DirectX12 is still barely supported. I wouldn't be too worried about whatever this is.

Waaat? De nieuweste versie voor kek zooombiez? Meee confuuuuused.

I'll try to run that through the google translator to have some idea what the heck you guys are fretting about. "Oh no, DX12 Ultimate coming, run for cover!". Why?

LOL. Here you go:-
English - https://www.nvidia.com/en-gb/geforce/technologies/directx-12-ultimate

Finnish - https://www.nvidia.com/fi-fi/geforce/technologies/directx-12-ultimate/

Edit: I wouldn't worry too much about it. 99.999% of games aren't DX12 and even most nVidia owners don't specifically own an RTX.

Yeah I google translated it as:

DirectX 12 Ultimate is the latest version of the API and the new gold standard for the next generation of games. DirectX 12 Ultimate offers unparalleled realism in games with support for ray tracing, mesh shading, Variable Rate Shading and Sampler Feedback. GeForce RTX is the first and only PC platform to support these breakthrough features.
Ok, so... what exactly is there I should be worried about? I don't get it.

Is this about "oh no soon you will need a GPU that can do raytracing! Like the NVidia RTX GPUs!"? Even that doesn't sound too alarming to me, for two reasons:

1. Common sense says that at least initially such raytracing features can be switched off. Just like when The Witcher 3 had that "hair tracing" for high-end NVidia cards, it wasn't like the game forced everyone to play the game with it. You could switch it off just as well.

2. Raytracing seems quite common now even on cheaper RTX 2060 cards and such. I guess it is a pretty common feature in all GPUs released now and in the future. Seems reasonable that games will start taking advantage of it as well.

i don't know what laguage you choose to translate that line into but... it is certainly not Dutch!

anyway.... there must be compatibility issues i'm sure of it... i'm now certain to have the latest microsoft update installed... will check out games such as total war warhammer II and control to see if my system will crash .... and such

Oh ok. So the worry is that it will cause some of our older (GOG) games not to work anymore, causing backwards incompatibility? I didn't get the context from the first message.

Ok, I have no idea whether introducing a new DX will cause such. Did DX12 or DX11? My understanding always was that older games didn't care about DX12, as long as you had DX9 installed as well.

Yeah if it will make some of my games non-functional, naturally I will be royally pissed and write a letter to president Trump. Again.

LOL.. coughs... lolsie

I knew it, not even 60 fps stable on settings that are well below the quality of my card, in dx 11 it is 60 fps stable

Control does seem to work better then warhammer, still i see some minor drops ) 1 - 2 fps, which can have numerous reasons, also i belief ram usage is about 400 mb's higher then before... so here nothing to report since i did not pay a lot of attention to those details beforehand

You do realize that there was already more than 12 version of Dx released, the chances of the sun going supernova with this one are rather limited.
