XIII, based off of the famed French graphic novel series, enjoyed a reasonable amount of popularity on GOG as one of its earliest UbiSoft titles. Despite its flaws, it was a thoroughly enjoyable action FPS, with plenty of cell-shaded atmosphere, solid gunplay, a great soundtrack, an engaging plot, and even some interesting multiplayer modes. The game runs well, even on OS X through WINE, but it suffers supposedly from compatibility issues with newer versions of Windows. Thankfully these have been addressed through many community fixes.
Sadly, due to what was likely legal reasons, UbiSoft lost the license to use the XIII IP. As a result, the game has been unavailable for digital distribution since the end of 2012. It's still sorely missed, however; The game is currently on the GOG Community Wishlist at 1,678 votes as of this writing. Though BNIB copies can be had for [url=http://www.ebay.com/itm/XIII-for-Windows-PC-/261374756144?hash=item3cdb264530:g:bmMAAMXQUmFSehfX]very cheap prices[/url] on eBay, I'm offering a better price: $0.
Up for grabs is a rare "big box" Korean version of XIII. Even though the box is in Korean, I'm about 90% sure that the game is still in English. For all of you collectors out there, the game is BNIB and shrinkwrapped. As per my usual method with my physical giveaways I will also include a GOG-style CD complete with extras and bonus materials, including the unofficial 1.4 and 1.5 patches.
The Rules:
a) This giveaway is open to all GOG forum members, regardless of rep or join date.
b) To recieve this game, you must (i) be willing to supply a valid mailing address, as well as (ii) a valid phone number. This is purely for shipping purposes, as it is imposed on me by the postal service in my region. (As well as the fact that this is a physical copy of the game that I'm giving away.)
c) You will not be responsible for S&H costs. All such costs are to be paid by myself. (Donations are welcome of course!)
d) To enter, creatively use the word "triskaidekaphobia" in a sentence or a small story in small paragraph form, e.g. "Billy looks at the calendar through the small window in the door. Today is Friday the 13th. He squeezes the rifle tightly and starts walking down the long corridor, and imagines his triskaidekaphobia, tightly squeezing the sanity and reason from his brain."
e) Entrants can only enter for themselves. Entrants that do not supply an entry corresponding to the terms above will be disqualified. Entries that directly engage in personal attacks against specifically named forum members will not be counted.
f) This contest will close on Sunday, February 7, 2016, at approximately 12 pm EST. A winner will be selected using random.org. The winner will recieve a BNIB Korean copy of XIII for Windows as well as a GOG-style CD of various extras assembled from around the web, including demos, add-ons/mods, patches, and anything else I can find.
g) Any changes or updates to this GA will be made only on this thread/post.
