Goodaltgamer: Does it mean this weekend?
Probably next weekend but possibly the one after. I have to figure out what's going in with the wife to get the date nailed down. I'll be throwing little pieces of story up to whet appetites and bump the thread. :)

ooooooooooooh, and I was already getting exited.......

And scuse me? getting our wife nailed down? oh sorry misread ;)

Edit: putting the robes on again to protect against this fierce wind which feels like being hit by a thousand needles and moving further to the tavern. Sighing as I haven't reached the tavern yet. How long will it take to get to the warm and cozy place.

Is participation in both parts mandatory?

ashwald: Is participation in both parts mandatory?
No. Definitely not. But only the winner of the PvP section will get the chance to play the special character. If you win the PvP section and dont want to do the roleplaying part, I'll be operating the special character via dm tools.
A few more games added (thanks bookwyrm627!).
Would anyone like to be a Dungeon Master for the 10/22/16 game? I could use two, just to keep things moving.

If you can commit to it and are interested, let me know.

(you will only need to DM if we have more than 2 people playing, of course. :D I'm hoping for at least 6 players by the time the time gets here).
I would like to play, don't care if I win or not.

I used to run Badlands 1095c as well as Firinn of Elisair back in the day. Sometimes would have 50 to 60 players on at a time. When NWN2 came out it killed a lot of online worlds, even mine :(

If you don't get enough DM, let me know.
The PvP section is this weekend.

We'll be doing a few things during this short session:

1- testing my setup and your ability to connect. I'll do my best to have it ready, but there are often hiccups when it comes to NWN and the internet.

2 - we'll be playing one match to the death. The winner will get a special power for their character during next week's game

The co-op part starts in 2 weekends. Everyone playing should take a little time to think about their character. You'll all start at level 1, so nobody is super-great at anything. You can choose any class you like.

If you post a relatively short biography of your character here, then I will build you some custom gear that fits your biography, time-permitting.

Do players need some sort of voice chat or third party communication aside from the ingame chat?

Do people that has never played the game can play in the treasure hunt?
Is there a way to watch for those of us who don't own the game?
Tip for getting Neverwinter Nights to run on modern Windows systems using AMD Radeon hardware:

On Windows 7 and newer OSs with AMD Radeon hardware, when the game is launched it will immediately crash. As strange as it may sound, if you encounter this problem go into the game's installation folder and rename the game executable to something else and run the game directly by launching that executable instead of using the start menu shortcut or GOG Galaxy. Alternatively if you would like the game to launch properly from GOG Galaxy or the shortcut, you can fix them up to launch it also.

Step 1: Rename nwmain.exe to nwmainAMD.exe or some other name of your choosing.

To fix the game shortcuts:
Step 2: Find the shortcut on your Start menu, desktop etc. and right click and go to properties, change the executable name it is launching to whatever you called the new executable in Step 1 above, then hit ok. The shortcut should now successfully launch the game.

To fix the launcher in GOG Galaxy:
Step 3: If you installed the game via the standalone installer, it will not show up in Galaxy by default as the installer is not Galaxy aware after 2 years, showing how much of a priority it is for GOG to have all games integrate with Galaxy to make life easier. You'll have to manually import the game yourself by finding it in your library and clicking on More->Manage->Import and pointing it to the game's install directory then waiting for it to sync. If you installed the game using Galaxy, you don't have to worry about this.

Step 4: In the game's installation directory you will find goggame-1207658890.info now, edit it and look for the section flagged "isPrimary" which has a line pointing to "nwmain.exe". Edit this line and change it to whatever you renamed the executable to in step 1 above. Do NOT change anything else in the file as the slightest typo or error will result in the JSON parser rejecting the file and having to reimport the game. Save and exit, then exit and restart GOG Galaxy. The game should now launch from Galaxy when you click [Play] without any problems.

FAQ:
Q) What the??? How can renaming the EXE file make a non-working game work???
A) I'm afraid you'll have to ask the AMD/ATI video driver development team why they detect the filenames of the executable files of certain video games and fuck them up so they don't work. Renaming the file makes the AMD driver not detect it and not fuck it up. Yay AMD!!!

Anyhow, it drove me f'ing nuts a few months ago to figure this out and there's a good chance someone else might encounter it so I thought I should share the info here to save people the headache. :)

If there isn't, I could import the game into Steam and launch it that way so I can broadcast the game using Steam video broadcasting, however people would of course only see me, which probably would either not be too interesting, or would be very hilarious since I have almost no experience with the game and am likely to get slaughtered. LOL I only played it for a few hours a couple of months ago during some beta testing and only made it through the beginning of the game which acts more or less as a tutorial. I never got to actual fighting outside of the initial village. :)

You can play even if you've never played before. Combat won't be a big deal. Most of the activity will be talking to each other and characters using the chat function in the game.

We will not use voice communication.

I've asked if anyone can stream to twitch before, but nobody has with previous games. If anyone wants to stream, let me know.
