apehater: well ... what can i say besides that the world becomes really odd and i miss the 90s.
What was Cuba like in the 90s? Do you like Jerry Maguire (1996) perhaps?
Who gives a f**k, jeez.

Videogames bro, videogames.
Huh, a thread about politics by apehater. This is going to end well.

Anyway...

I miss the 90s too, but then I was a teenager in the 90s and had a very blinkered view of the world at the time.

Another day where the GOG forums resemble the aborted fetus of Tumblr and /pol/.

sauvignon1: Let me explain what REALLY pisses me off about this. Last August, I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. I had planned on joining the Air Force, but I'm now ineligible for service. I was heartbroken, but I understood the reasons. Now the Armed Forces is giving a pass to a specific group of people with a mental disorder - and yes, it is a disorder - in the name of political correctness. Bipolar doesn't get enough headlines, I guess. I had resigned myself to the fate of non-service, but now I feel betrayed. The rules have been bent, broken, for a very very small yet vocal minority, leaving people like me by the wayside.
Even if it is a disorder I'd rather see one confused about her/his gender wield deadly weapons/drive tanks/man ship guns/use whatever that kills than someone with extreme mood swings. Sorry to be so blunt pal; I really hope this can get fixed & you can do whatever you wish to do.

I live with someone with Bipolar, even with medication it can be unpredictable. The most important therapy is having people that you trust and are with you to support you when things go wrong.

Unpredictable is not something military forces like in their own ranks, soldiers go through intense training to be uniform in their actions.

I'm curious about the physical requirements; however since a female soldier should be capable of meeting the minimum requirements their male counterpart does, so should a transgender male.

As for the 90's, it was the pinnacle of the Table Top RPG era, however I don't miss being verbally and physically assaulted just for being a 6 foot male goth with long hair.

Actually, a transgender man, if on hormones, would have no problem meeting male standards; testosterone gives trans men the same upper body strength that you would expect of cisgender men.

Of course, I am of the opinion that the standards should be the same for both men and women.

i guess well see soon a men of honor sequel, where guba gooding jr will play a tranny that becomes the first master chief diver in the navy.
To me, this is the big picture: It is NOT okay to sign up to murder for the government. The system is the problem, not how it works. Looking at its smaller elements, such as transgender rights, will inevitably mean that you acknowledge the overall system.

I had the same feeling with the movie Zero Dark Thirty. Everyone thought it was SO progressive with the strong female lead ... who played the role of a torturer(!) employed by the government. To me, the torture glorification overshadowed the strong-female-lead stuff.

I also remember there was some tweets where ISIS leaders posed with kittens. And sure, kittens are cute, but the cuteness kind of clashed against the terrorism thing.

It is a sort of a grotesque juxtaposition, where sensible ideas are mixed with total brainfarts.

Exactly my words! Don't effin' murder for the government. If you can't find your own victims, murder isn't for you. Get yourself a new hobby. Try gaming, for example. I've heard good things about it.
If you can serve and kill and destroy as is needed. I embrace your inclusion into the military.

You seriously going to debate the role of a soldier?
