dtgreene: Speaking of Touhou music remixes, does anyone know of any good classical style remixes of the music? (That is, remixed to sound like classical music, with the sort of instruments typically used for classical music.) I would be interested in hearing some of them.

A "Ball room" rendition of U.N. Owen Was Her. You will find plenty more [classical] remixes on youtube.

Good find!
I feel obliged to preserve this version of Yuyuko's theme. Nayuta ftw.

Touhou Luna Nights coming to Switch this year:

...it's something! Personally, I find metroidvanias to be more enjoyable on handheld systems.

hi there, dear GOGlodytes!
as we all know, Steam does have some Touhou games. so I have a question: which one of them would you recommend a certain never played Touhou gamer to grab first to get into this franchise?
preferably Zun's, not fans', and with Cirno (or, is she everywhere?).
no need for game to be noob-friendly. losing is fun, in the end.
thanks in advance!

Please excuse the late reply for it has been a busy week.
Basicaly Touhou 6: The Embodiment of Scarlet Devil is what you want. Cirno is one of the early bosses.
If you want to play as Cirno you are better off trying one of the spin-offs such as Maihana Soumakyou (Azure Reflections)

thanks a lot for the recommendations!
and what about ones available on Steam? (maybe I'm banned by its search engine for I couldn't find these two titles there.)

Currently Maihana Soumakyou is only available on PS4/Switch. Translated that is. As for Touhou 6, well... let the Moriya Shrine guide you. If you know what i mean. Fuck steam. :)

There's also Touhou 12.8: Great Fairy Wars

That particular game has a gimmick where you can freeze enemy projectiles, and doing so is how you level up, as well as gain bombs and lives. While it might sound like this would make the game easy, the enemies shoot more bullets than typical for a Touhou game, and there are some bullets you can't freeze (except by using a bomb). The extra stage boss, in particular, can get pretty absurd with all the bullets to worry about.

You are right. Forgot about that one. And well.... Extra stage bosses are supposed to be absurd. Just look at the Flandre fight in 6 for example. Lunatic skill level.
