tremere110: Cancer is nasty - not something I would wish on even my worst enemy. I hope you are lucky enough to never know the pain of cancer.
Agreed.

But cancer is more or less a self-inflicted disease. Much like how most diseases are the result of malnutrition.

I would imagine he won't be part of the forum for very much longer. :D
At least we can see that horrible assholes have actually, contrary to popular opinion, been part of the community since the start.

let me guess, he aint even taht old, rite

drmike: Wow, seriously? Fairfox shows compassion for someone and he gets downvoted?
How are we supposed to know what she shows?

Seriously, she could have enough decency do drop the retard act at least for situations such as this. You could as well have a clown show up at the guys funeral and make ballon letters saying "sorry for your loss" and be surprised some people want him out.

Only the clown might at least actually be funny.

HunchBluntley: ... but I tend to avoid most of his videos where he's just talking about a topic, rather than playing something while talking, because he just keeps repeating a lot of the same things over and over and over throughout the video, so what should've been a 5- or 10-minute video becomes 20 to 40 minutes (or longer!). He clearly loves the sound of his own voice just a bit too much....

Matewis: [...] I attribute it to his ad hoc method for making those videos while playing the game. If your attention is divided between talking and doing something else, not to mention not really having rehearsed anything beforehand, then its very easy to just kind of start rambling. [...]
As I said, I'm talking about his videos where he's not playing anything (such as his "I will now talk about [topic] for [rough amount of time]" videos); he just records himself talking, and then adds in clips of (maybe) semi-relevant footage after the fact just so viewers have something to watch while listening to him spout off. The "WTF"s, livestreams and LPs aren't too bad. (I can't speak to how blathery he gets on podcasts with other people, as I haven't listened to those.)

I guess when it comes to opinion/essay videos, I sort of prefer people who are operating off of some sort of script, even if it's just a rough outline. (As long as they don't sound like they're reading from a script. Though judging by his performance narrating the intro to Space Pirates and Zombies, TB might not be able to pull that off. :P ) That, or people who are just better at reining themselves in when speaking extemporaneously.

Only when your immune system can't keep up and handle them.

But chemo therapy isn't the way to deal with cancer. Better to take a natural method that doesn't cause cancer.

I've also heard sometimes some doctors will lie to you to get you to take expensive treatments... so who knows...

Oh right I see. Never really watched any of those myself. And sorry, don't know how I managed to read over that distinction you made.

There's no way I can respond to this news. Most of all, I loved his enthusiasm for all things Warhammer, which by the way, is how I discovered his channel. I enjoyed his games critique videos, and frankly, other than occasionally watching some trailers, his videos were the only reason I ever went on youtube. I'll keep watching his co-optional podcast to the very end, but once that is done, I'll be left with getting my gaming reviews/news from rockpapershotgun. I also occasionally watched Jesse Cox and Jim Sterling, but they are just too extreme in their, intentional, immature approach to game reporting.

TB, I wish you joy and peace in the coming months, spending your time next to your family, and playing/replaying some of your favorite games.

Which is why Steve Jobs is still alive, with his diet of organic carrots. Just imagine if he would have done the chemotherapy treatment for the extremely curable form of cancer he had. He would have surely died of cancer years ago. Luckily he avoided all modern medicine and he is well and good.

I guess it's the irony of life that ignorant people are causally the most vocal about their beliefs.
Yes, he was a bit rambly in his video essays; I wish he would've put time stamps in those. But I didn't get tired of their long-ness until fairly recently, since earlier, he'd be talking about an issue no one else really talked about (or knew about) in detail and his stuff would be the only long video on the topic. But now I feel there is almost a tendency to go un-necessarily on about negative industry practices among everyone doing games coverage and TB's stuff just gets lost among all of it. His conciseness when doing his WTF is vids would'be really helped his more recent video-essays.

His podcast was very volatile and there were some that really bored me, some that were good just as background radiation and some that were really interesting and funny. The animated shorts were always great, although the funniest moment was never made into one. The crew also had a tendency to discuss mostly the big mainstream games for most of the time, especially if they didn't play other games that week. Now they're doing it over 2 hours instead of three, so it hopefully gets better in that regard.

The worst thing for me was when he stopped doing the mailbox, which were his QA type vids, because after he stopped those, you could only get his opinions on something via the podcast, which was often limited in scope to the events of the week and the trending topics of the time. Ofc there were his WTF is vids but they were about particular games. IMO it made it difficult for people who valued his opinion to hear it. I know it was because of his health, but it also kinda coincided with youtube's algorithm encouraging long videos and now most gaming videos are 20+ minutes long and unstructured, and the value of longer vids really diminished for me after that.

You know chemotherapy weakens your immune system severely and CAUSES cancer, right? Sure they could kill that cancer only to cause a worse one.

I'm not saying to refuse all modern medicine, but it just seems most of it is more poisonous than therapeutic.

Trying to remember... if you water fast for 7-10 days a year you reduce your chances of cancer by 98%. I'll see if i can't find the source on that. (Found one, combination YT and study, and more)

There's also herbs and plants (like Canabis or Hemp with CBD oil) which can cure cancer (so much for being a schedule 1 drug according to the UN).
