Have the same sentiment as samuraigaiden; he was a prince compared to today's clowns.

Yes, I miss him too... The Cynical Brit was one of my first exposure to adult entertainment on youtube, I mean with a much more emphasis on detailed analysis of a game, without turning it into a wild teen party with lots of irrelevant fluff.

Brits are usually the best when it comes to gaming content on Youtube overall, that's why I love listening to Gopher among others (he's strictly not a reviewer only, but still).

But yes, after TCB went away I went on looking for other that does more reviews, and Yongyea seems to be ok. JimSterling, Markiplier, Pewdiepie, and AngryJoeShow are perfect examples on how to make it exactly like a biased dim-dum teen party with lots of irrelevant fluff just to make it 'hip and cooler'.
For the FPS games reviews, I dig GmanLives reviews.

viperfdl: His real name was John Peter Bain. TotalBiscuit was his nick. Another nick was "The Cynical Brit".

Because the channel named TotalBiscuit (which, yes, was his) was very much focused on Starcraft.

Maxximus_McClane: Who else misses Total Biscuit and his reviews for PC games. For those that don't know of him, he passed away a few years ago from cancer(colon cancer I beileve). He was beloved in the PC gaming community for his no BS reviews when it came to reviewing strictly PC games. he was a big supporter of GOG and their mission too! God rest his soul he is missed.
He was great and I do miss him. Nobody really replaced him. He was great, not just with game reviews, but with industry comments as well. Everybody seem to be on the gravy train or are clickaholics, but he was different. It was somebody you could trust.

Horribly unfortunate to die that early, and it must have been very rough for his girlfriend.
I liked his evaluations of PC ports and stuff. I definitely miss those. Not a lot of quality stuff like that on Youtube, and channels like Digital Foundry usually only cover the biggest games. Total Biscuit covered pretty much every PC release.

I didn't agree with his actual game reviews though, he was a lot more cynical than me. Still, I miss his voice.
His reviews are still the best I've ever seen on youtube. Nobody even seems to try to emulate his style. The closest I've seen anybody get, is ACG, but my God, does that guy like his random metaphors.
Total Biscuit's reviews were great. I don't think I've seen any reviewer consistently go into such depth of going through all the settings menu's, eg, are the keys rebindable, FOV adjustable, mouse acceleration issues, subtitles / languages, can you disable individual ugly graphical effects or is it just dumb "Low / Ultra" presets that don't explain anything?, etc, in plain English without feeling the need to "dress the channel up" with some theme / style of presentation aimed at younger teenagers. RIP John Bain. You are sorely missed.

Yep exactly! This is what made him stand out amongst the PC gamer review community on Youtube. It's quite amazing that pc gamer reviews on Youtube don't go into the depth that he did for some reason.

and that's half of the fun!
It's kind of sad and nostalgic when I run across one of his reviews these days.

He did have comprehensive reviews. I started to fast forward over the settings part. He started to get a bit preachy as his fame grew, like a lot of popular yt reviewers. Towards the latter part, I started to avoid his reviews because of it, then the cancer hit, and I just felt sorry for him. Still, he was a thorough reviewer in terms of teaching a game, since he did first impressions more or less.
Total Biscuit will be dearly missed because he was the ONLY video game reviewer in his time who openly exposed the corruption in the gaming industry and always pinpointed the names of the specific people involved.

There is Gmanlives, worthabuy, ACG these days doing good reviews.

Angry Joe is focusing too much on movie reviews which he sucks at.

IMO I would add SkillUp / Laymen Gaming and YongYea to the list.

As for Total Biscuit, I watched his videos quite often -- even though he was purely a PC gamer / reviewer. I appreciated his work. Toward the end it was tough... his voice had deteriorated so much that it was hard not to wince while listening. Terrible loss.

This is how games were normally reviewed.

I don't think he did Blizzard or his SJW friends but that would be biting the hand that feeds.
