Leroux: To me it sounds a bit too formulaic. PS:T revolved around a philosophical question, so this one will revolve around a philosophical question, too. In PS:T you were traveling across several dimensions, so in this one ... etc, etc. You get my meaning. In PS:T all of that was fresh and original, but IMO this one sounds too much like a sequel trying to cater to the old PS:T crowd by giving them more of the same. It might not be such a bad thing if that's what you're looking for but in the end I fear this game is doomed to play second fiddle to PS:T by design. I think I'd have preferred a completely new game without any reference to Torment in the title. But we'll see. It might still become an enjoyable RPG.
And how's that a negative thing? It's not like there's an overbundance of philosophical games.
Ouch. People want backer-exclusive content. Why would anyone consider leaving today's kids no choice but to pirate a good idea?
This looks interesting.....I bookmarked the website and will be keeping an eye on it. :)

Really? I hope they don't get their way......I hate that alot of newer games nowadays have various content you can only get if you buy from a certain store. :(

I am reminded of a Cracked article, which I can't find right now right now because I'm on a tablet. It was calling out geek police on tasking itself with determining who's a true geek(tm) and who's just pretending. "And after years of suffering from bullying, when you got the upper hand, you decided it was your turn now" - something like that. Screw kickstarter exclusives. Screw them in every available orifice.

Prediction: the 'exclusive content' will be leaked at once, resulting in a day-one unofficial patch. The extra effort involved in making the base game work without it will be wasted, and backers' 'exclusivity' will be meaningless.

I didn't say it was a bad thing to make a philosophical game, I only said I was disappointed that the game seems to follow the same formula as PS:T and that it's not exactly original, even if the question and the background has changed. But I guess that's due to them trying to sell it as a sequel of sorts in order to get all PS:T fans on board. Like I said, it may very well become a cool game, but it won't be as special and innovative as PS:T if the devs just stick to their old formula,

Hmm...anybody else having this problem?

I'm trying to create an account on the new Torment website, but I'm not getting the confimation email. Tried it with two separate mail accounts. No luck so far. : /

I assume you checked your spam filters? If it's not there, shoot me over your email and I'll get it activated manually.

OMG......:O

I LOVED Dreamfall(Never played TLJ as I never knew about it until after I beat Dreamfall), and bought the prequel on GOG when I learned about it. I love the setting & storyline....it's bloody amazing is what it is.
It still irks me that they didn't call it "Numenera: Torment"!
And then for the spirtitual sequel tot he spirtual sequel they should have developed/found a completely new setting and name it [New Setting Name]: Torment. And so on and on.

Dunno if you're serious or not, but IIRC the setting/series is titled Planescape & the original game's "subtitle" is Torment(referring to the main character & his life[lives] & their quality[or lack thereof], I guess). If this is correct, then wouldn't the correct naming convention be to call each game Planescape: X(Where x is each new game's subtitle)? -_-

They may be trying to show a connection to the original, but without being sued?
