Crosmando: To be honest the "Numenera" aspect interests me more than the "Torment" aspect. The whole Ninth World setting, "the Earth in a billion years time, countless civilizations have risen and fallen, and technology is so advanced that it's indistinguishable from magic", could be a very unique game and is certainly better than the dreary Elves/Dwarves/Orcs/Magic/Dragons setting that Obsidian is going with for their game.

I mean, just check out the art here:

P. cool,

EDIT: I'm assuming that "Torment" in context means a story where the main character wakes up with no memories, and then has to regain them, and as he does so he finds out who he truly was.
I wonder if there will be a novel one day :P

Opinions, man....opinions every which where.

But Project Eternity is going to be standard fantasy, it's going to have Elves, Dwarves, common magic, dragons, etc. You don't find that kind of setting is extremely overdone and dreary?

I still pledged to that Kickstarter, but it was a mighty unoriginal and "safe" concept for Obsidian to go with.

Im actually wonder why GOG + Steamcode is the 2nd highest voted thing for this game on the website? People shouldnt have their cake and also eat it. If you want Steam u get steam. if you want GOG get gogkey.
Getting both is just plain greedy IMHO

Why? I want a game on Steam for easy access to patches, and I want a game on GOG for easy archiving. It won't be the first game I have two copies of, and I do use them both. Same as HB, you get a steam key and a drm-free installer.
If people wish to keep one and sell/trade the other, yes, I do take offense at that, but I don't want to limit my choices.

Edit: I also love that they give their kickstarter starting time in the "PlaneScape: Torment" timezone (yes, I know PST is Pacific Standard Time, but it does make me smile).

It doesn't cost anything for developers to give away Steam codes of their games, afaik Valve lets them do it

Not my point though.
People should have to choose one or the other. Not just get Steam and have a back up GOG in case Steam falls over.Im probably in minority but i dont really agree with this......

Do you also have the same mindset for Humble Bundles? They are also giving a DRM-free installer and a Steam key.

And just to clarify again, I don't mind if I get one license with the ability to use it to multiple platforms (be they Win/Mac/Linux or GOG/Steam/Desura), as long as it's clear that I get 1 license, and not multiple. Which means that I won't be keeping one platform (GOG) for myself and trading away the second (Steam).
There's been a hint from Kevin Saunders, who is going to be the producer of this game, that the initial goal of 1 million will only be enough to make the game in 3D, but their will likely be a stretch goal to do the whole game in 2D prerendered backgrounds with "hand-painted touch up", like Planescape: Torment, it's just that method of art creation is a lot more expensive and time-consuming. But obviously it looks heaps better.

Imo most of the major genres/plotlines have been done to death(Barring sub-variations in said major plotlines/genres).....as such I don't mind when a company makes another Fantasy RPG/FPS/Survival horror game/etc.

Also I really like Fantasy RPGs, and as such I usually never quite get my fill of them.
