Hello people!

I am a developer of the top-down tactical shooter "RUNNING WITH RIFLES" which we released on Steam and Desura earlier this year. As Desura won't exist for long anymore, we are thinking about shipping the game also on GoG.
I have to say that I have not much of a clue about GOG (yet) which makes us reticent.

Also, does GOG allow us to give a Steam key for every customer who bought the game on GOG? As some official multiplayer servers might be Steam-only.

Infos about the game can be found here:

Thank you for your replies!

edit2: RWR has not been accepted by GoG, sorry!

I'll help out with the link:

I've been keeping tabs on your game for quite some time now. :-) I may have picked up a copy on Desura or someplace, I'll have to double check. I'd love to see it on GOG. AFAIK, GOG doesn't provide customers with Steam keys, but they have their own API (GOG Galaxy) that would provide multi-player support and even cross-play with Steam users. You may want to ask them about it. Good luck!

Contact GoG press for more info but other then that this a regular gaming platform that just specializes in DRM free gaming and curating good titles. I hope to see your game on here in the future and would insta buy.

Hello,

I haven't heard about your game before. It looks really good! Voted!
GOG states that Galaxy will support (maybe it supports already) multiplayer across users of different platforms.

Anyway, a release here will be great for users like me, who care only for the single-player part and don't have a Steam account.

Thanks.

Disappointed that no one posted a link to submit your game yet.

No. While GOG does have the infrastructure to provide a unique serial with each game automatically, GOG does not provide Steam keys for the games they sell. You could go the ToME way and have a website where the game's multiplayer serial can be converted to a steam key, or provide a steam key with proof of purchase, or have a way to get the multiplayer keys recognized by steam (think GFWL or Gamespy keys), but GOG won't be providing steam keys with any purchase.

Do contact them though, and see if Galaxy will cover the multiplayer needs of your game, though no idea how hard it will be to convert your current code.

Have you thought about selling your game on itch.io? You can offer an additional Steam key there without problems like some other developers already do:

GOG has some multiplayer API which is compatible with steam. Maybe you can look into that.
The demo is 300 MB, going to check it out because this looks like it could be fun.

Looks like a lot of fun. I'd buy it here.
Hi guys!
I bought your game from Desura as soon as I saw it on Steam. I would definitely love to see it here. As for multiplayer, there are other options like creating your own server, then we could just advertise the credentials to our friends to join us, so I don't see that being a problem.

Steam keys will not be given out with games that are purchased here.

Please bring the game here (if GOG says ok). I'm glad the Steam version is still DRM free but it would be nice to have my game in a neat installer, instead of a bunch of files splayed out.

edit: by the way, I freaking love this game. Having the option to have hundreds of soldiers in an all out war, as opposed to the default setting, is probably the craziest option I've seen in a game. Sure, I can't win or even capture points but it's still fun :)

The game looks great, if there's a decent single-player in it I would very much like to have it here (I usually don't do multiplayer very well).
Thanks for your comments guys. As you might imagine, we have severe issues with piracy, which is something to expect when you decide to go DRM-free anyway, but we also have enough legit customers to compensate the "loss".
In multiplayer (mainly coop as it's way more played than pvp) we might want to have a check on the official servers in the future which allows only clients with a valid steam id to be able to join as pirates are usually the one who are griefing and ruining the experience of the other players.
Of course if the game would be on GOG it should also be possible to play multiplayer.
If playing with this Galaxy app could send a legit id so that we could make a steam id and galaxy id check, it would be awesome. Might have a look at it at some point.
Looks like something I'd like. Voted .
This is one of my favourite games. I would re-buy it here for the chance to have it fully DRM free.
